Current Polls Breakdown: Lets go with this break down for the VNL: Setters, Liberos and Opposites (3 each) and Outside Hitters and Middle blockers (8 each). VNL-25 player roster: (as the polls show) S: Carlini, Poulter, Hancock L: JWO, Courtney (omit if at OH), Lake, Hentz* Opp: Thompson, Drews, Lowe OH: Robinson, Larson, Hill, Foecke, MBH, Plummer, Pressley, Courtney (omit IF at Libero), Lanier/Parsons* (tied) MB: Ogbogu, Washington, Rettke, Dixon, Akinradewo, Adams, Tapp, Alhassan *Would be bumped up pending how Courtney travels as an OH or Lib. I would drop only Tapp and Adams for Stivrins and Butler and I would keep Courtney at OH to allow Hentz (if she joins) in at Libero. Also...who is voting for Parsons? She needs to sit this one out. She isn't the answer.

Potential Poll Question:
Which roster management approach should Karch implement during the VNL?
1. Leave all of the Olympic Roster (about 19-20 players a.k.a. the Core) at home to train/rest and only bring players who (are on the bubble/who need more development/are green internationally)?
2. Save all of the Olympic Roster Potentials (Core) for the finals and use a single inexperienced travel roster for the whole preliminary round?
3. Start the tournament with the same inexperienced roster for the first three weeks and then integrate the Olympic Roster Potentials (Core) during week 4 then take what would be the Olympic roster to the finals.
4. Submit the top 25 players in the program to the roster and mix it up through out the preliminaries slowly allowing the best to rise to the top thus bringing the Olympic Roster to the finals.
Which option would work best?

Which option would work best? I am not a coach, so I don't know if practice reps develop timing and chemistry better than matches or if they're a nice complement to each other. If you can get the Olympic roster up to speed with just training in the gym, then I am fine with option #1. Otherwise, I think I like option #4. We assume, for good reason, the 12-person roster will come from the 19-20 players easily identified. But, a year ago nobody had Jordan Thompson in the mix for Tokyo. So, if there is a 2020 version of Jordan Thompson out there that isn't in the 19-20, I would like to see her. And, I would like to see her with the "A" team and see how it all works together. I do think, though, that the time for newbies to really be in the mix for Tokyo was last summer. So, Option 4 is my preference. But, option #1 would be fine too.

I alway appreciate your responses and feedback. You are always polite and respectable and well spoken. I too think that the time for newbies was last year and before then but I also know that playing solidly from mid May to early July not only wears down your athletes but also shows your whole hand to your opponents where they can study your offense and exploit your weaknesses. I guess I'm option 3. That way we see some development and let our vets rest after their pro seasons.

If I had more time I would follow the international leagues closer. It is actually the national team discussions that kept me from deleting my account in the last month or so. NCAA Tournament time can be insufferable here.

Insufferable is an understatement but fear not, there be many gems that post exclusively in our national team forums that hate Americans and make it their sole purpose in life to disparage them at every opportunity. It’s really sad and impressive at the same time. The dedication to hate it next level.

Ive always wondered why players like Hartong, Taylor, etc didn't ever really get invites to play with the national team.
I know danielson was asked to be a libero, but she declined.
