Ive always wondered why players like Hartong, Taylor, etc didn't ever really get invites to play with the national team. Nikki Taylor didn't fit in the USA system.

Poll added! Please vote for the roster management option you would consider implementing if you were coaching. Or vote for what you think Karch will choose.

The question is.....will all of the other participant nations submit their best 25 player rosters for this tournament?

The question is.....will all of the other participant nations submit their best 25 player rosters for this tournament? They will definitely have their best part of the 25 player roster, but whether or not they play a good portion of the competition is still unknown. Last year Serbia didn't even care for the tournament. China as the hosts only used the first week of the preliminary round which they did not host to experiment with other players then sent a similar roster to the finals. Majority of teams practically have their ideal 12 player Tokyo rosters down with only a few position that are still undecided. This will be the last tournament for them to test out players who will fill in those last spots. Positions teams that already qualified for Tokyo are still figuring out. Japan: Reserve OH/OP and 3rd MB China: 2nd OP and 3rd MB USA: Libero and OP? Serbia: Reserve OH and 3rd MB Brazil: Vets? or New Gen? Russia: Reserve OH and Libero? Italy: Reserve OH and DS?

Hopefully Stivrins and Pressley make their way into the gym this summer so we can see them in action along with more of Butler, Rettke and Plummer.
Taking a look at Stanford's school schedule, due to them being a quarter school and not a semester one....there is basically ZERO chance of seeing Jenna Gray or Morgan Hentz since they wont graduate until the preliminary rounds of the VNL are almost over. That basically rules them out for this quad. Gray will be making a big Olympic push for qualifying on Javelin which is super cool!

The way Karch talks about Carlini....she goin' to Tokyo. What did Karch say? Sorry, I can't open the link from my location Sunderland keeps referring to Carlini being on Karch's Olympic roster. He has said it multiple times and Karch didn't disagree. In the article he was commending Carlini for having a break out 2019 international season and complementing her for not giving up after her first few outings with the NT didn't go too well. (see Grand Champions Cup 2017)

If the last two quads have taught us anything, it's that there are no sure things for Olympic roster selection this far in advance. People would have been laughed off the board suggesting Alisha Glass wouldn't be in London in December 2011 (and maybe we should have been laughed off for accepting it in July 2012, yet I digress....)

Oh i'm sure there will be at least one shocker when that roster finally drops.

Aight....here's the roster i'd like to see.
25 Player VNL 2020 Roster Prediction:
S: Carlini, Hancock, Poutler, Seliger-Swenson OH: Robinson, MBH, Larson, Hill, Foecke, Plummer, Pressley MB: Ogbogu, Washington, Akinradewo, Dixon, Rettke, Adams, Stivrins, Butler. Opp: Thompson, Drews, Lowe L: Courtney, Wong-Orantes, Lake
I think this is pretty close to what we will see. Of course it depends on if Pressley and Stivrins attend tryouts or are invited to train. If they aren't then bring Jones-Perry/Kingdon-Rishel and Alhassan/Tapp.
Due to the schedule Karch could split the roster up and send 1 team to weeks 1 and 4 keeping them in South and North America respectively and send the other team to Europe for weeks 2 and 3 (Serbia/Germany). From there evaluate everyone and bring the best players to week 5 which is arguably the toughest leg where they face Russia, Poland and China (Hosts).

Thank you so much for playing along. I alway appreciate your responses and feedback. You are always polite and respectable and well spoken. I too think that the time for newbies was last year and before then but I also know that playing solidly from mid May to early July not only wears down your athletes but also shows your whole hand to your opponents where they can study your offense and exploit your weaknesses. I guess I'm option 3. That way we see some development and let our vets rest after their pro seasons. I really enjoy the National Team discussions. If I had more time I would follow the international leagues closer. It is actually the national team discussions that kept me from deleting my account in the last month or so. NCAA Tournament time can be insufferable here. Honestly I am not that impressed with the quality of posters that post in most NCAA threads. Especially when their team is loosing they just can't look past it. I'm glad you didn't delete your account. I certainly won't be spending too much time on those threads in the off season. Join the real people and follow the club/international game.
