If the last two quads have taught us anything, it's that there are no sure things for Olympic roster selection this far in advance. People would have been laughed off the board suggesting Alisha Glass wouldn't be in London in December 2011 (and maybe we should have been laughed off for accepting it in July 2012, yet I digress....) Oh i'm sure there will be at least one shocker when that roster finally drops. Are you saying a Kim Hill dropping?

Aight....here's the roster i'd like to see. 25 Player VNL 2020 Roster Prediction: S: Carlini, Hancock, Poutler, Seliger-Swenson OH: Robinson, MBH, Larson, Hill, Foecke, Plummer, Pressley MB: Ogbogu, Washington, Akinradewo, Dixon, Rettke, Adams, Stivrins, Butler. Opp: Thompson, Drews, Lowe L: Courtney, Wong-Orantes, Lake I think this is pretty close to what we will see. Of course it depends on if Pressley and Stivrins attend tryouts or are invited to train. If they aren't then bring Jones-Perry/Kingdon-Rishel and Alhassan/Tapp. Due to the schedule Karch could split the roster up and send 1 team to weeks 1 and 4 keeping them in South and North America respectively and send the other team to Europe for weeks 2 and 3 (Serbia/Germany). From there evaluate everyone and bring the best players to week 5 which is arguably the toughest leg where they face Russia, Poland and China (Hosts). I’d rather see Alhassan there than Stivrins honestly. Rhamat is doing well this club season.

Is it because of how she performed last summer with the national team? Well, i think she might not be be in VNL 2020 because of imoco's schedule. In making the roster we have to consider the calendar for CL and european leagues. If fener, imoco, novara, vakif will be in the finals of CL. Expect that those players who are in this team won't be able to make it in VNL. And i am referring to Mbh, hill, robinson, Ogbogu, Thompson. They might be in the final round or semis and finals of vnl and from there going to tokyo 2020.

I really enjoy the National Team discussions. If I had more time I would follow the international leagues closer. It is actually the national team discussions that kept me from deleting my account in the last month or so. NCAA Tournament time can be insufferable here. Honestly I am not that impressed with the quality of posters that post in most NCAA threads. Especially when their team is loosing they just can't look past it. I'm glad you didn't delete your account. I certainly won't be spending too much time on those threads in the off season. Join the real people and follow the club/international game. Some are good and have a wealth knowledge and provide a positive contribution to the board. Some also have a wealth of knowledge but are a negative contribution to the board. Some are just trolls. Some are just jackasses. Sadly, the trolls and jackasses always make the most noise. As a Badgers fan, it was noticeable how often a handful of people went out of their way to be jags last night. The block button can be your friend. But, it is an overall negative experience come tournament time. The rest of the year most keep to their own teams

But I do think some of the Champions League finalists (should we have any players in the finals) will get a break before the VNL starts.

As much as I would LOVE to see Presley on this year’s VNL roster, I don’t think it is going to happen. Hopefully, this next NCAA season she will be involved more in serve receive and prove herself.

If she wants to take her game to the next level....she NEEDS to get some international experience. What an awesome way to improve her all around game? Plus attacking at a faster tempo like the one used on the NT will add even more range to her offensive arsenal.

I think Karch and Co. are realizing (albeit a bit late) that tapping into the domestic talent pool while they are still in college will only help players go pro after graduation and thus help retain more talented players in the future.

He has said numerous times that "Having Rettke, Lake and Thompson train on the senior NT isn't something that is normally done". It sounds to me like Karch is interested in bringing NCAA talent to the table earlier.

I generally think our goal for 2020 is to be “undefeated” (gold at VNL, gold at Olympics). So I chose option 4.

That gives our opposition ALL the chances to have video for scouting our line-ups and tendencies. Hell...in 2012 McCutcheon used the Olympic roster in the first week then brought the players on the cusp for the last remaining spots to the finals. Granted the USA was ranked No.1 going into the London games and we were beating everyone so he had the luxury to rest the starters. I don't think we have that luxury. Do you think an inexperienced roster could play the entire prelim's and get the USA to the finals? Is that even smart in an Olympic year?

Nikki Taylor didn't fit in the USA system. I wonder how many athletes got over looked because they didn't match the stupid "system". Ugh...I hate it. This "supposed" warp speed system, is no longer working for the U.S. Players like Plummer don't fit in Karch's dumb system. What a way to alienate young talent from the national team.

That gives our opposition ALL the chances to have video for scouting our line-ups and tendencies. By the time we get to the matches that matter (the medal rounds), everybody has six matches of film on us from that week anyway. I don’t think revealing a starting lineup at VNL has much/any impact on us winning gold.
