Hugh just tweeted about a new student athlete joining the Gophers. Wonder who it is. It’s the most exciting sports thing that’s happened today.

Any speculations on Setter, DS/L or OH? What is the average wait time for the rest of us to find out after one of Hugh's tweets?

It looks like it’s Lauren Crowl according to her Instagram.

She’s number 1 on the far side

I didn’t see her too 50 juniors, but she looks like a good get to me. A strong tall lefty is always good to have on the team. I’m kind of wondering if she is a little bit of a late bloomer?

She’s number 1 on the far side Gosh, I like those commentators more than most of the ones on B1G.

Rewatched a few 2019 matches yesterday. Anyone feel Miyabe could snatch one of the starting OH spots? She’s a smooth player with few apparent drawbacks, at least in the front row. Obviously it depends somewhat on her passing game somewhat, but I feel she could have a leg up over the freshmen in that department due to simply more collegiate experience/time under our coaches.
Any thoughts on this question?
As a Nebraska fan, I didn't see lots of Minnesota matches--but in the few that I did see, it seemed that Miyabe had some really nice attacks. On the other hand, she also had a fair number of errors, so maybe that's what's limiting her playing time?

Blocking errors, yes, but otherwise she was not error prone, imo. What kept her from playing time may have been the transition from JC volleyball to D1 and a player named Stephanie Samedy, who was playing in front of her. If she is moved to left side this next year she would have a better chance of seeing regular playing time. But then, who would back up Samedy?
I want to add that I didn't even notice that she had so many blocking errors until I looked to check the stats. She gave us some key blocks at key times last year.

Seems like a solid recruit for Minnesota; lots of upside. I'm getting less and less impressed with those lists. She may not be ready to play day one but appears to be very athletic in the front row and I like her serve too.
