Who else do we think is going to be the next 2022 recruit? I have made it clear that I don't know anything about any recruits, so obviously have no earthly idea who it might be. I would imagine that the positions you would start to think about would be a backup setter or DSs. Barring transfers in or out, 2022 would have 5 OH [Demps (Jr/RS So), Jardine (So), Orzol (So), Wrobel (Fr), Gregorski (RS Jr)], 4 MB/RS types [Robinson (Jr), Smrek (So), Gorum (RS Jr), Wohlert (RS SR)], 2 setters [Hammill (RS So), Ashburn (Sr)] and 1 DS [(MacDonald (Sr)]. My thinking is that they seem in good shape with hitters across the front row. Maybe add another middle? DS/Libero types would seem to be the screaming need in both 2021 and 2022. Guessing the staff is recruiting 2021 and 2022 classes pretty hard for some smalls. Also a strong candidate position for a transfer or 2 next season. Only 1 setter on the roster come 2023. So, finding the right one behind Hammill could happen.

The Wisconsin versus Penn State match played in Madison last year is on BTN right now. I'm reminded that I can't make out what the Badger fans always chant when the opposing libero serves. Can any of you Badger faithful drop some knowledge? Thanks!

Sieve makes sense- it's a decent burn.

Well...we could do better. Having your volleyball insults derived from ice hockey indicates a certain lack of creativity on the part of Badger fans.

Honestly, Badger students having any cheer that contains no four letter words that rhyme with "truck" is doing well for them.

It is Wrobel. I just did some IG sleuthing. And Punzel confirms. Of course, all this means to me is that I know she is tall. I’ve been taking a break from VT... Any who, I’m back Great news about Wrobel. I saw her last name and immediately thought of one of my favorite big 10 players from the day - Jenna Wroebel, and sure enough Jenna is her older sister. aunt. (I thought Jenna was going to be her mom lol)

so happy for her... I met Sherisa when she came to visit WI at a recruiting “event.” She was so sweet & friendly and I remember her asking me why I chose to come to WI and more about the Volleyball program atmosphere. Needless to say I was stoked when she committed and put on that jersey. Watching her bounce balls for four years was amazing. Congrats to her!

Or maybe I missed that particular match, because I can't remember. Then again, I was just getting initiated at the time so I was pretty clueless.

Signs of extreme boredom:
I watched the entire 2004 Regional Semifinal match between Hawaii and Wisconsin (posted to NCAA twitter account) last evening. Now I miss Jill Odenthal, Jocelyn Wack and Maria Carlini.
Wear a face mask and help the virus die...I miss volleyball.

If any of you re bored in the Madison area, you should visit the Fieldhouse and look at the new landscaping plan, it's beginning to take shape and will eventually look great. It's been fun to watch all of the updating to the building and the total rebuild of the grounds, I've never seen so much concrete being pored. My only concern is the windows, they were promised to be done this summer, but nothing so far. I understood the closings due to the virus might have slowed down the windows part of the project. On most days they have had 20 and more workers, it's been impressive.

I misread the article at first - I read it as Jenna was her sister when in fact the article says Jenna is her dad’s sister. Thanks for catching that! And yes... DOMINANT player. She could hit the %*$# out of that ball.

This conversation is premature, because I really hope we get a season of some sort, but in the event we don't or it's cut way short and there's an option for this year's players to not lose a year of eligibility, I was pondering the effect on UW. Probably Rettke gone pro, but hopefully (for the Badgers, I know each woman will make her own best decision), we'd keep most or all of Hilley, Barnes, Shanahan, Loberg, Haggerty. I know some of those could try pro as well, or just move on with their lives.
