Omg I’m so heated rn. That challenge is looking really bad now and obvs you can’t blame it just on that. But from every point onwards from then Canada was playing real poorly and PR got some confidence

Omg, Canada with a real bad start to the set. King isn’t connecting at all with the hitters, down 0-3.

There’s a small section of them here, but expected more! I wonder if the earthquake had any impact.

Canada couldn’t come back. Down 9-13, they go 3 straight to pull within one. Then what do they do? Get a free ball and send one right back. This team is not ready. They played a real inconsistent match today, as did PR. It’s a real disappointing loss as Canada has got some sweeps over PR recently. PR played more clean in the fifth set and took swings at the ball, which is what got them the win. Canada isn’t done yet, but they seem to get in each other’s way and they don’t have the passing or setting to win yet.

I blame the coaching staff for Canada, actually. You have a young, inexperienced setter out there, and the setting was horrible. She should have been pulled a long time ago. To let her stay in and set poor set after poor set, was painful to watch. Gray, Maglio, Van Ryk, barely able to get a tip, or swing. Once Smith went in in the 5th, they had a bit of a chance. Painful to watch them win 2 sets and then watch that setting.
I think King's confidence is down and she is second guessing herself. She maybe needed to sit for a bit.

That damn challenge in the middle of the rally when they were up 21-19 in the fourth came back to bite coach’s behind in the end. They easily could’ve went up 22-19 with a transition play coming up. But it’s all irrelevant now, they had their chances. This team has pieces to be good and be the next best behind the USA in the NORCECA this upcoming quad, they need some consistent aggressive play tho. Also, I need to stay positive. This team is relatively young and some of the players are getting good pro experience and training. Although this felt like one of those slip away matches, it’s definitely already a better showing than anything they had last quad’s Olympic qualification tourney

Both teams played like this was the 2016 Qualification format 🤣🤣where the #3 NORCECA team was essentially guaranteed a bid (Puerto Rico) while the #2 (Dominicana, who beat Puerto Rico) went to a tough world qualifier and lost.

I do feel Canada was ill-prepared, but very inconsistent play from both sides. Puerto Rico was not impressive overall, and Dominican will have an easy time with either team, if they play the way they did. Canada can play much better, but unfortunately, with the setting today, they didn't have a chance (passing wasn't much better, but that is somewhat expected from the team). King can set much better, but I think she is just a little too experienced and maybe felt the pressure. I wish Black would have put in Smith a little sooner, and take the pressure off King. Disappointing. : (

Dominicana is trending up and beat good USA teams twice this summer (they lost twice too). They also had good results against other good teams.

Haha, I wish that was still a thing.... jk no. That was easily the most ridiculous qualifier (3rd NORCECA, 3rd CSV, and 2nd and 3rd CAVB) ever.

Quite a bit of their players seem to be getting old. Of course, you know them better than anyone else on this board, so you can probably give a better analysis of who will and won’t return for the next quad. With almost everyone on Canada probably choosing to return, I think that’s a start. It just seems that with the DR having essentially the same team and lineup for the past 5 years, they might experience a drop in play for next quad should some of the players retire.

It won't be easy for either team. Despite PR winning, it wasn't impressive.

Simply an accurate reflection of their level of play?
