Wucherer is the best player I’ve seen in this class. Very clearly proving she was the best one on the top team at USA this summer, putting on a clinic against Chile in a 5 set final. Very low error player as well. She’s a very good player but I would still take Hayden Kubik over her and I’m not just saying it because I’m a Husker fan. It’s very much the same as we saw unfold this last season with Madi Kubik. Hayden is a top 6-rotation OH. She’s just going to improve a lot more. Madi is a better hitter but Hayden is the better ball handler.

She doesn't have the ceiling of some of the other top prospects. That's not to knock her, she's very good. I’d have to disagree. She reminds of Hayley Hodson in high school, technically, she is far above any other OH in her class. She’s a great passer and defender, good server as well. In that final match, she was hitting the ball harder than everyone and hitting more difficult shots than anyone else. We won’t truly know her or anyone’s ceiling until they get to college and get in the weight room. That’s what makes a big difference when players get to college. as of right now, she is months in development ahead of the rest of the OHs from what I’ve seen. He’s saying others have more room for improvement in college than Wucherer does and I agree.

Took control of almost every match she played in. Watching them both in multiple ,arches playing with the same setter against the same competition, kubik was good, but statistically did not ,arch up to wucherer at all. I think people may not realize how complete wucherer is.... she’s a very good passer and defender. I think most coaches, after watching them both play, would want wucherer most definitely.

You may very well be correct here but we’re talking about projections into the future. McKenna won’t improve as much in college as Hayden will. If Hayden grows late as much as Madi did, she will be plenty good at Nebraska. I’m talking about growth in both stature and ability.

There are players who will probably be fine college players and place high in senior aces, there are also complete misses among the top ranks and plenty of players nowhere near the top 10-20 players who do big things in college. But, in comparing players, regardless if you are right or wrong, the measure should NOT be which player will improve “more” in college, it should be how good they are after a few years in college. Playing devils advocate here, if Wucherer is better now, and progresses slower in college to her ceiling, but Kubik progresses to her ceiling faster, the question is a bit more about timing more than anything. On a scale of 1-10, If Wucherer enters college playing at a 7 but never progresses past an 8, and Kubik enters college playing at a 5, and then goes to a 6 sophomore year, 7 junior year, and explodes to a 9 or 10 senior year, well I’d probably take Wucherer who is better for 3 years than wait around for a higher ceiling Kubik in her senior year.

I agree with that. Right now wucherer is noticeably better. I’d say where wucherer was a year ago is close to where kubik is now. Watching them play on the same team as 15 year olds, it’s noticeable who’s further along right now. Kubik does show promise as her older sister improved a ton. But, right now, she’s not jumping as high, not taking over the matches quite like wucherer does against international competition. That’s why right now I think wucherer would be a higher priority player for most coaches. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if Kubik was a top 10 senior ace in 2 years

Faumuina (sorry about the spelling) but the girl from LB Poly already has a great beach, almost men’s approach and can set too. She has Plummer potential (esp with being a S/OPP) and has great versatility

Depends on how deep and talented your team is.

Very low error player as well. I definitely think that Wucherer is an impressive player. while I think that the HP championships featured a number of close teams, Wucherer did stand out. I think it was you but someone mentioned the comparison to a prep Haley Hodson and I think that is spot on. Now, while I do think that a fair collegiate assessment of Hodson is unfair as she was quality on the RS without having to shoulder a ton of backrow duties as a freshmen, and as a sophomore she was rather lack luster on the LS before quitting the sport, there is no doubt that the technical quality of Hodson's play as a club player was almost unmatched, even to this day. She was a very high skilled volleyball player and really knew how to use her body. To those who want to see some of the HP Championships matches, they can be found below. Opposing teams clearly targeted Wucherer and she was high quality (Save for a few miscommunications) on first contact. She also had a nice array of shots. Kubik wasn't really a factor in these matches. And I'll be the first to say that NOT playing much surely isn't reason to believe she wouldn't have a higher senior aces ceiling, just that there were players producing better than she was during this time, clearly Wucherer, Rubin and Trump. v. Youth A1 Red (the opposing side featured a ton of top 2022 recruits too like Middleton, Hope, Faumuina (they just were worse on first contact)...If Essix ever learns to really play volleyball WATCH OUT WORLD! She looked lost out there all match but you can't teach that height...look where she touches that ball at 14:50) (look at that swing at 3:40 ) Semi's v. Junior A1 (some quality 2020's playing on this roster, including the much hyped Sophie Fischer (#12)) Championships Roster for the entire team: 1 Hayden Kubik 2 Taylor Preston 3 Rebekah Allick 4 Lauren Carter 5 Elia Rubin 6 Alexis Stucky 8 Brianna Anderson 9 Laney Choboy 10 Karissa Kaminski 11 Lucy Trump 12 McKenna Wucherer 13 Kendal Kemp Also some notes. I think Allick is going to be very good....soooo quick. The player that also stood out was how solid Stucky was for a taller setter. I remember commenting on that in the summer. I'd watch out for that one.

Also some notes. I think Allick is going to be very good....soooo quick. I didn't list her because I didn't want to be too much of a homer, but she's one of the most athletically gifted players in the class. Very long and great agility for her size. She's still ironing out her fundamentals, but she definitely has a very high ceiling for development.

There was talk that Stanford is very interested in Choboy and that that feeling might be mutual... but it way too early for that kind of talk. She is really, really good however.
