I definitely think that Wucherer is an impressive player. while I think that the HP championships featured a number of close teams, Wucherer did stand out. I think it was you but someone mentioned the comparison to a prep Haley Hodson and I think that is spot on. Now, while I do think that a fair collegiate assessment of Hodson is unfair as she was quality on the RS without having to shoulder a ton of backrow duties as a freshmen, and as a sophomore she was rather lack luster on the LS before quitting the sport, there is no doubt that the technical quality of Hodson's play as a club player was almost unmatched, even to this day. She was a very high skilled volleyball player and really knew how to use her body.

To those who want to see some of the HP Championships matches, they can be found below. Opposing teams clearly targeted Wucherer and she was high quality (Save for a few miscommunications) on first contact. She also had a nice array of shots. Kubik wasn't really a factor in these matches. And I'll be the first to say that NOT playing much surely isn't reason to believe she wouldn't have a higher senior aces ceiling, just that there were players producing better than she was during this time, clearly Wucherer, Rubin and Trump.

v. Youth A1 Red (the opposing side featured a ton of top 2022 recruits too like Middleton, Hope, Faumuina (they just were worse on first contact)...If Essix ever learns to really play volleyball WATCH OUT WORLD! She looked lost out there all match but you can't teach that height...look where she touches that ball at 14:50)

Also some notes. I think Allick is going to be very good....soooo quick. The player that also stood out was how solid Stucky was for a taller setter. I remember commenting on that in the summer. I'd watch out for that one.

After watching this, I think I would take Rubin over both of them. But for me, the most impressive kid on the court was Choboy. She is a really good libero: Quick, great touch, directs traffic. Impressive.

There is talk she’s “committed” which is what people say when future Stanford bound players tell other coaches “im Waiting for Stanford” and normally that means at Ford has said, “we want you, we can / cannot give u scholarship, if ur willing to wait for the admissions process” there is word Chaboy is pretty set on waiting for Stanford but anything can change in a year and a half

My daughter has played against Elia Rubin since they were both 10 or 11 and I think Rubin is one of the best team players in this class.  She really carried that Sunshine team many years.   One year they changed their rotation so that Rubin received almost every serve because she was by far the best passer on the team.   Ironically, my daughter now has played against her in HS for the last two years also (Rubin attends Marymount).  Even as a freshman (last year) Rubin was a huge asset to that team.   There are some other great players on that Marymount team that are 22s too and they have a 2023 setter that I think plays at surfside that will be good in that year.

Setter is Kelly Belardi who is a '22. She is a top recruit on the beach. 

Rubin is a star. Not many kids can carry teams the way she has.

Emma Rhodes looks like the Angie Pressey of the 2022 class. Unless the coaches want to make the same mistake they did with Yossiana Pressley, if she continues to improve, I can see Rhodes as a top recruit.

Her swing and takeoff looks very Simone-like. Simone was one of my all time college favorites

While we won’t hear much from the 2022s until June 15th. Several have offers and/or know who is interested in them and vice versa. Lots of VTs lurking probably have some “tea” and aren’t spilling it. We’ll get a taste next month when we see what courts the coaches are watching at Triple Crown. It will be off to the races then.

She is not committed yet, so no
