Also based of who she follows, I’m thinking she’s choosing between Washington and USC. She is following Coach Elliot, so who knows. How could you come up with such conclusion? Lol She’s also following Mary Wise + a bunch of volleyball programs that include Penn State and UNLV. Along with Jaylen Reyes. I think because her top 3 schools are Texas, Washington and USC

Just curious, in past recruiting years, have we ever had a top recruit commit this late? Its not super common but its also not a total rarity. Brooke Nunviller committ really late in her class. Also with Devin being from Hawaii and covid happening its not that surprising its taken this long.

Haven't seen a top recruit commit so late when the Trees weren't involved.

We were disappointed when she decided not to attend. Why do you think Stanford was not in the mix?

Idk about specific players reasons for losing interest in Stanford, but I have heard rumors that there isn’t much money available for scholarships within the Stanford Athletic Department. A student athlete who wants to attend MAY need to be prepared to apply for financial aid or have parents who can contribute to tuition and living expenses.

Uh, wow. That's not your everyday tuition and living expenses, either. College tuition and room and board is expensive in a lot of places, but Stanford is on a different level. I just can't believe Stanford is at a point where they've chosen not to fund all 12 scholarships for volleyball, though. I do know there were proposals to cut back on the number of athletic programs, but the alumni had a massive reaction to it.
You said it's a rumor. I don't believe this one. At least for volleyball.

I think he is saying all scholarships are taken but if she still wanted to come it would be on here own dime. Not that the 12 scholarships allowed aren't fully funded. I still never heard any interest on either side with Devin or Stanford. Could be wrong though.

The scholarships being full makes a WHOLE lot more sense than Stanford not fully funding 12, which makes absolutely NO sense to me.

I feel bad for posting, but I heard that money has been an issue keeping Stanford from getting more recruits on board to their phenomenal volleyball program. I’m not sure why money has been an issue, but the way it was explained to me was that scholarships weren’t as readily available within the athletic department. That’s all the explanation was.

Well, no apology necessary to me. I'm here for discussion. I'm not of the opinion you're affecting Stanford recruiting with your post. I wasn't responding to you out of outrage. It was my sincere reaction to your post. If anything, I invite you to post more, as long as you're contributing to the discussion on the board.

A student athlete who wants to attend MAY need to be prepared to apply for financial aid or have parents who can contribute to tuition and living expenses. Stanford has the maximum number of twelve available scholarships allowed by the NCAA for Division 1 Women's Volleyball and funding is not an issue. Because Stanford is a very young team, most of the scholarships are already taken for the next few years. Off the top of my head, I think Holly Campbell might be the only one on scholarship leaving the team after this season. That is, her scholarship should be available even if she decides to play one more season due to the NCAA COVID scholarship rules. I don't know if Stanford is willing to fund an additional quarter to allow Holly Campbell to play in Fall 2022, but this certainly wouldn't be a big financial commitment for them. Walk-ons can get full tuition paid, like all prospective Stanford students, if their parents annual combined income is below $125K (not sure if this number has gone up). Note: Room and Board is not covered.
