Idk about specific players reasons for losing interest in Stanford, but I have heard rumors that there isn’t much money available for scholarships within the Stanford Athletic Department. A student athlete who wants to attend MAY need to be prepared to apply for financial aid or have parents who can contribute to tuition and living expenses. Stanford has the maximum number of twelve available scholarships allowed by the NCAA for Division 1 Women's Volleyball and funding is not an issue. Because Stanford is a very young team, most of the scholarships are already taken for the next few years. Off the top of my head, I think Holly Campbell might be the only one on scholarship leaving the team after this season. That is, her scholarship should be available even if she decides to play one more season due to the NCAA COVID scholarship rules. I don't know if Stanford is willing to fund an additional quarter to allow Holly Campbell to play in Fall 2022, but this certainly wouldn't be a big financial commitment for them. Walk-ons can get full tuition paid, like all prospective Stanford students, if their parents annual combined income is below $125K (not sure if this number has gone up). Note: Room and Board is not covered. Thanks!

To be clear, I wasn't saying that Kahahawai wasn't considering Stanford. I don't know. I was just commenting that the only late commitments I recall seeing from a player of her caliber are once where Stanford is in the mix.
That being said, the explanation of her wanting to take official visits and being unable to do so until this year because of COVID makes perfect sense to me.
Also also, she gets to commit when she's damned well ready, and her reasoning is none of my business. Of course.

She'd be likely to play and she would get to attend one of the best universities in the world. She also knows Tara Desa

How could you come up with such conclusion? Lol She’s also following Mary Wise + a bunch of volleyball programs that include Penn State and UNLV. Along with Jaylen Reyes. Seems like weird science to this dinosaur as well, but blackiechan1999 ‘s social media divination skills are not to be summarily discounted…he is often correct or partially so. You got me crying in the club 🤧.

Yes, I heard about this. My point still stands. They're one of the wealthiest universities in the world, have an endowment that is bigger than the GDP of some literal countries, and an incredibly successful alumni base. Money/scholarships has never been/will be an issue for the women's volleyball program. Next.

That isn't what I read here, "Idk about specific players reasons for losing interest in Stanford, but I have heard rumors that there isn’t much money available for scholarships within the Stanford Athletic Department. A student athlete who wants to attend MAY need to be prepared to apply for financial aid or have parents who can contribute to tuition and living expenses." But I'm with you. The scholarships being full makes a WHOLE lot more sense than Stanford not fully funding 12, which makes absolutely NO sense to me. I completely admit this is rumor. I will walk it back if I’m wrong. I feel bad for posting, but I heard that money has been an issue keeping Stanford from getting more recruits on board to their phenomenal volleyball program. I’m not sure why money has been an issue, but the way it was explained to me was that scholarships weren’t as readily available within the athletic department. That’s all the explanation was. It's definitely not an issue with women's volleyball.

I agree with you completely with everything you just said, except that it obviously was an issue on some level, otherwise the article and the issue never would have existed. Debating the wealth of Stanford as an institution or an alumni base is stupid. Saying that finances has never been a concern within the athletic department - whether it should or shouldn't have been - is incorrect.

Annoying, but not surprising. Is there a better recruiting team than Texas? Maybe Nebraska and Stanford are on par.

I suppose Mendelson should be talked about here now! I suspect she has decided and is awaiting admissions to announce where she is going.
