So now that we have all the Tokyo qualification tournaments done and we know who all the 12 teams are (China, US, South Korea, Italy, Serbia, Japan, Russia, Argentina, Turkey, Kenya, Dominican Republic and Brazil), now who will be on the roster? I am sure the heavy favorites will be there for their teams, but what about some potential surprises? Who will they be?

Several of these teams will likely use the same or similar rosters but we should discuss/make predictions anyways because we matter đđđ

Brazil will be the hardest to predict.

Brazil will be the hardest to predict. Ze Roberto has continued to rely a lot on London 2012 veterans (and some from Beijing too). But is this an elaborate smokescreen? Is he instead going to throw caution to the wind and send a young and untried squad to the Olympics? I doubt it. Unlikely he will gamble so much given the stakes involved...but anything is possible prior to the release of their roster list to the public.

Brazil will be the hardest to predict. I agree. The 2021 VNL will illuminate a lot. Edit: 2021 due to Covid-19. UUUUGGGGHHHH

Brazil will be the hardest to predict. Also so many of their veterans are still playing domestically or abroad. Who knows who even wants to try for it.

Brazil will indeed be the most difficult team to predict. GabĂ, NatĂĄlia, and Tandara are shoe-ins. Macris âshouldâ make her Olympic debut, as should âthe bridesmaidâ Camilla Brait. The rest of the team is up for grabs. Fabiana, Thaisa, and C. Gattaz are playing lights out volleyball in the middle. With AdenĂzia trying to make a comeback, players like Carol and Bia are really going to have to have a great VNL. There are some hungry Young OHs out there too, like Tainara. Backup setter could be Roberta, FabĂola, or Dani Lins.

Or did she changed her mind? A lot of Brazil's vets said they "retired", but the idea of playing and potentially medaling in one last olympic is tough to pass up. It's going to hurt for the players who've been working hard at these past few years only to lose their spot to a returning vet. I don't think Carol has a chance, Bia maybe, but I thought Mara performed better than her at the World Cup.

Yes, Fabiana, Thaisa, Shellia and other vets can still play high level volleyball to some degree. The problem is, they are no longer at their peak and is steadily declining in performance. At some point their advantage in experience will be outweighed by their diminishing ability on court. The question is, have they crossed that line or do they still offer valuable on court value?
