For student athletes, the market pays differently. It's analogous to the prestige of schools. A STEM degree from Western Middle-of-Nowhere State probably doesn't get you as "good" a job, however you want to measure it, as a humanities degree from Dartmouth. There's something to be said for the drive and time management skills you need to be an athlete. It has a stronger in the market than you seem to think. I agree with all of this except the last sentence. Having drive and time management skills provides you with a huge leg of up on the competition for jobs. But so does having a valuable degree. As I've said before, this is not a choice of one or the other. You can have both. All along I have been suggesting that student athletes should strive for both unless their passion predisposes just one thing.

“Continue to use petty insults” ? And for the record, I’m defending the ACC all academic team, while you were attempting to diminish those who made it in majors you insultingly referred to as “soft” If you don't think the "OK boomer" comment on your part qualifies as a petty insult, feel free to justify yourself. You are consistently applying motives to me that don't exist. I have never attempted to diminish the ACC all-academic team. When you diminish something, the purpose is to tear down. From the start, my purpose was to point towards something better. Getting the degree with more value.

Does anyone know if VT had a direct message function... asking for a friend. It does. If you click “messages” (located right next to the profile tab) it will bring to where u wanna be. Not hard to figure out from there

From the start, my purpose was to point towards something better. Getting the degree with more value. You said “continue” which implies multiple insults, that isn’t true. Ok Boomer was tongue in cheek, I apologize if you took that as an insult, it wasn’t my intent . Having said that if you don’t think referring to someone’s major or degree as soft is insulting, ask someone pursuing that degree, they’ll disagree greatly. Again, I’ll apologize if you felt insulted.

Okay.... Some news/info I have been told regarding some spring updates: Louisville: DBK, per social media, is very impressed with her team. Feels they are on their way to a top 25 year... GA Tech: Heard they have really used the NIVC as a bouncing board and are excelling in spring practice. Trying to identify their 2nd middle. UNC: Coaches are very impressed with this team regardless of losing Harrison. Merkler and Phegley are bringing a lot of offense in practice. Several players esp Cox and Peck are working both pins. All around, coaching staff feels a "turn of the corner" coming. WF: Lot of upbeat feelings regarding the coaching changes. Have not heard about any other programs right now. Thanks for the info. It's interesting that Louisville, a top-8 team last year who is returning everyone who contributed in the 2nd half of the season, only thinks they'll be top-25 this year. Are you surprised that three other teams express positive thoughts after a week of spring practice? It'd be more interesting if anyone is already telling you that things are a disaster.

I thought the same

I dont think you can call Louisville top 8....they did make it to the elite 8 in the tourney so in a way yes, but it was through upset variety and they werent consistently beating top 10 teams all season. I think when claiming to be a top 25 team, that means a perennial national spotlight team. I think they are assessing that talent and claiming that potential.
Some schools have already had 2-3 weeks of practice. Again, these were just some quick bits I was told with people close to these schools. Kind of their first impression spring take aways.
I think the ACC will be much improved this year and the spring may be the first signal with some schools having early enrollees. I am interested to see how teams like Duke and NCSU do with the turbulence they had in the season and for those with off season turbulence. Those two are the ones to really watch for in regards to some big questions.

Louisville is being realistic. I’m a huge Louisville fan, but it’s no secret they had the easiest ride out of any unranked team to the sweet 16. They had already beaten wku, who was good, but certainly beatable. That wasn’t a big surprise. Then they stole one from a Texas team that was playing its worst volleyball come tournament time. They kinda snuck into the elite 8. Finishing the season in the top 20 would be a great goal for them.

Top of the ACC is gonna be a real toss up. I can see Pitt, Louisville, ND, or GT taking it. Much murkier than the past few years.

Im curious how Pitt will fill their senior void, and how ND will handle their depth. They get Jemma Yeadon back, Meuth, Niego all who are good on the pins not to mention their incoming class. Bent is hands down OPP but they have so much firepower....need some better defense esp w libero play...
GT and UNC will probably have a harder schedule next year since they had tournament aspirations and their RPI wasnt helped by the weaker ACC schedule. Weaker as in, played top dogs only once.
I think Clemson takes a big step up.

Over .500% is a "big step up" for a program that finished a game out of last place
