Hopefully this means that she is still playing in the spring. Wording is a little vague. So then would she still get an extra year of eligibility next year, if she wanted to suit up for the Yellow Jackets?

To me it sounds like she is playing this spring (still on the roster page) but won't be taking advantage of the free year of eligibility to play in the fall with this spring not counting against the normal 4 years of eligibility.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say. Thanks. But, if she does play for OSU in the spring, could she still suit up for BW in the fall? I've seen Wright State bench warmers dominate the OAC after transferring, raking in conference Player of the Year awards. I can't imagine what a four year pseudo-starter from the Big Ten could do to that league. She'd be like a Terminator out there. I'm just saying, it would be funny. And I suspect she could probably do it if she wanted to, with that extra year of eligibility for everybody.

Wow, looking at the box score, JFO has a shorter bench than Thad Matta.
Vondran and SS Morbitzer were the only two subs that got in the game. -neither played in the first set of either game. -Vondran didn't play the first three sets of either game.
"Iron man" VB.

From trying to read the numbers of who was dressed after the match on Saturday, I don't think they had another DS available this weekend. I didn't see #2 (Camryn Moeller) or #7 (Hannah Gruensfelder) which are the only other DS on the roster.

Not a great year to be thin at key positions.
With Mauer gone if Big Mac has to miss any time, all of a sudden OSU is rolling through the Big Ten with Dayton's 3rd string setter.

First of possibly many alterations to the schedule. This would leave the next weekend (2/5-2/7) open if Penn State could play by then or to move another opponent into the slot, assuming Ohio State can avoid their own issues.

The path of a lower-end program building towards the upper echelon of the Big 10 Conference is unlikely to be a linear one, especially during a pandemic.
With that being said, OSU and their new staff had a much longer than normal preseason to get ready for arguably the worst team in the conference (a team they swept last year 3-0 and 3-1 with a much younger team) committed 67 hitting errors, and from my perspective did not show any notable areas of improvement from last season.
I understand it’s only the first two matches, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to have expected to see some improvement especially after adding one of the top recruits in the country. I am not suggesting Carlston was a better coach, not in the least. I believe Geoff and his staff spent the better part of this time at Ohio State over their skis. But after these two matches, I see many more similarities between the end of 2019 season and the beginning of 2021 than I see differences. The numbers certainly suggest this.
