Slater/Doig looks better than Harward/Hallgren in my opinion.

Announcers misinformed that Hailey Harward hasn't played college beach volleyball. And, Mac May is a "middle blocking at the net". ; )

I can't hear the announcers very well even with volume cranked to max - is it my computer?

May with the two errors, but ends it with two points. UCLA wins 3-2

I can't hear the announcers very well even with volume cranked to max - is it my computer? They were on a different court and didn't have the cameras on the #5 court. I think that is why it went dead for a bit (for them to move).

I thought Harward and Hallgren had a lot of service errors which didn't help.

USC is going to be scary next year when they get their Olympian back. By then the Nourse twins will be an almost unbeatable 2s team.
This year is going to be wide open. I THINK UCLA can beat LSU if Van Winkle plays as she did today... but then again she wasn't facing a big block today.

I've got to think that if you have the 1s and 2s almost certain wins, 3-5 will be able to play freer, which could lead to a lot of lopsided victories.

In the 5s *edit* 4s game, when UCLA was up 14-11 in the 3rd, UCLA played dink ball twice, hitting out once and getting it blocked the second time. On the third game point, no more dink, blast away for the win.
In the 1s game, USC had a little momentum, but the little on that team tried for a dink on match point and didn't clear the net.
I'm of the general opinion that in the nervousness of a match point, it is easier to be effective using power than trying to control a touch shot.

I wonder if the scores would be the same for some of these close matches if all the pairs played at once versus in waves (especially with teams with more seniors vs. freshmen, etc.)?

Sometimes, but I have also seen players blast it out for the match instead of just keeping the ball in play.
