Today's Dev tournament is going on right now. 21 teams in the Men's draw, and 16 on the Women's side. Casey Jennings/Ed Ratledge got bounced in 9th place in 3 sets by Kevin Villela/Spencer Sauter (22-20, 16-21, 15-12). p1440.volleyballlife.com/tournament/817

Casey/Ed developing slower than other teams apparently but every young team has their own pace. Hope they stick together rather than making the mistake so many youngsters do and jumping around to lots of different partners

DR Vander Meer/Logan Webber beat Branden Clemens/Dylan Maarek in a rematch of last month's final. This time Logan/DR won (21-17, 25-32) and didn't lose a set all day. It's their second Dev tourney win this off season.

Since the end of last AVP season, he has been in the finals of just about every tournament he has played. He and Chris Luers are cleaning up the Midwest circuit on weekends. I hope he and DR play together this season, though! Logan got his first main draw with DR at the Huntington AVP/FIVB two years ago, and they always have success when they play together. Plus they are long-time friends from the same hometown, so it's a good story!

They played avpnext in Texas last weekend (lost to Connoschitz in the final). Frankly Burik is just a way better pickup than Vandermeer, and that partnership will get him into a lot of main draws either straight in or pretty consistently through qualifiers with a good chance to upset some teams in the main draw. #NewSatterfield?

We'll see! We will learn a lot when the entry list for Huntington comes out. Logan was living in one of Burik's houses when he first moved out to CA, so I wasn't surprised when they played a one-off together, especially if Mark's weekends are freed up form VCH all of a sudden. I don't know if that is going to be a regular thing though. Logan is sponsored by CHAOS Beach Volleyball, which is why he has been coming back to the Midwest every-other weekend and playing with Chris Luers, another CHAOS athlete. Those two will all but certainly win the Midwest bid for Manhattan. Are they giving out those bids through the AVPAmerica Grand Prix standings this year? www.avpamerica.com/VA-Beach-Volleyball-GrandPrix-Rankings.aspx

Webber has main draw level talent. Luers does not.

Prefer VDM defensively, edge to Mark offensively but very close.

Has accumulated 17ths and a 15th since, and never did anything before. Burik has gotten 2 9ths or better every year since 2015. Not comparable.
