This is fake news. ‘Plans to’ is different than ‘makes contingency plans for’. That’s a misleading headline. coronavirus.fullerton.edu/Simply more panic porn from the media.

California Governor announced phases of reopening this week and said that in phase 3, which is “months not weeks away” there could be sports without fans. Arenas full of fans would have to wait for Phase 4 which he send depends on the development/availability of therapeutics. His comments on sports have varied over the last few weeks, so people should leave room and time for things to continue to change as circumstances change and hopefully leaders adapt. Perhaps CA could have sports without fans this fall or maybe sports with small numbers of fans spaced out would be ok’d. Utah announced that starting tomorrow gyms are open with lots of social distancing rules and also that sporting arenas can be open with some new rules in place including that auditorium or stadium seating must maintain 10 feet of space in all directions between individual household groups while seated. I think other states are headed that direction soon. Not bringing this up to start a discussion of whether or not we agree with these moves, just to point out where things are at for sports. Is the NCAA prohibiting all athletic interaction in person? Can athletes in states where gyms have been opened use athletic facilities/gyms on campus if they open up? Most students have gone home and aren’t nearby but some could still be.

If the fall sports season do not happen in some capacity in the fall on time, fall delayed, or spring.... enrollment driven institutions at the D2, D3, and NAIA levels will take a massive hit. It is hard for me to imagine that there will be no fall sports because of that fact. The NCAA and NAIA will not want to risk loss of membership due to schools closing their doors

New poll #5 up!
How much money are you willing to bet on the fate of the Fall 2020 season?
So, if you bet any amount of $$$, you get that exact $$$ if the season turns out the way you bet. Example: you bet $20 that the season will be cancelled and if the season is indeed cancelled, you get your original $20 back plus another $20.
If you lose the bet, then you lose whatever $$$ you bet.
This shows mostly two things:
1. How much conviction you have of your beliefs based on inside info, fact gathering, and gut instincts.
2. How risk averse you are with your money, i.e., greater the risk, greater the reward. No risk, no reward.
Essentially, put your money where your mouth is.
Only DI schools.
"Cancelled" means any or all of the season is terminated. Obviously, if the season doesn't start at all, then it is considered "cancelled." If the season starts but is terminated part way through, e.g., Men's vb 2020 season, it is considered "cancelled." If more than 15% of the conferences and 15% of the teams do NOT start and end the season as scheduled, it is considered "cancelled." Whether or not a season is considered "Cancelled" is not contingent on the occurrence of the NCAA tournament.
Not "cancelled" means the season starts and ends as scheduled. If the season starts later than usual but is able to complete on time in December 2020, then it is not "cancelled."

How are we defining "canceled?" All of it or some of it? I would certainly be willing to bet $1,000 that all of it will be canceled, but I would go probably up to $10,000 if I could bet that either the beginning or the end of the volleyball season won't be played.

If any one of them cancels is it a full cancel? If any one of them has a full season, it it non-canceled? My $100k bet can only be made with a clear definition.

Can you play volleyball wearing a mask? I'm just envisioning what this looks like if they are able to return this fall. I do not see that wearing a mask while playing competitive volleyball is a possibility. Edit- feasible.

So you are asking us how much imaginary money we are willing to bet?

If I cannot even attend the games, then I guess I really don't care if they are played or cancelled.
