Well I dont think ANYONE expected Smarzek to play like THIS... She was a rock star in VNL and i think played pretty well last year? even with hancocks struggles, she shouldn't be playing as she is, but I agree
Smarzek's struggles are not related to Hancock because even when the backup setter comes in Smarzek still struggles.
She's just having a bad year, period. I hope she gets out of her funk sooner than later.
Or maybe, as Candlelight said, she's just affected by a nagging injury?
She didn’t have a great season for Bergamo before her injury? ...Maybe other factors.?Either way, she hasn’t been playing well for some time. |

Smarzek divorced her husband before the season started. I heard it had a strong emotional impact on her. This had likely influenced her game on court.

Conegliano v. Scandicci game 2 is happening now. Conegliano pulls out a close first set 25-22, I think. Egonu with some hitting errors early didn’t help, but they figured it out. Kim’s passing and defense is a thing of beauty today

But what else she'll do after playing? Maybe she'll just take rest and just retire with NT but still play with club? Or transfer to beach volleyball. |

From what I’ve read on here, she seems to keep her personal life pretty private. So I have zero idea what she’ll do after this season. She could keep playing for 10 more years for all I know lol |

Watching Kim Hill play today is like that feeling you get when you take down that very special bottle of well-age scotch. Smooth and timeless and very satisfying.
