Just to my eye, Novara didn't start with Hancock serving. She's in left front to begin and Smarzek is serving. Think Novara's going for a matchup here, and clearly it must've helped.

Smarzek looks the best she's looked all season. She took a cross-court swing that looks harder than anything I've seen her hit this year.
