‘Time Out’ is one of the few jazz discs I have. It is my fave. You're missing out, bub. If you want to belong to the Cool Cats Club, you need to listen to more jazz, man. I’m sure I’m missing out and I’m also sure I need to listen to more jazz, not sure I want to belong to the Cool Cats Club.

I know a lot of people aren't into scat but here's a relatively good entry point. This song was sung in scat but the progression is not wild (i.e., hardcore bebop jazz) and the song has a decent melody. From the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, here's "South American Getaway" (composed by Burt Bacharach).
From the soundtrack album:

"Laura" Clifford Brown 1955
The music was composed by David Raksin for the 1944 film Laura. Beautiful stuff.

So, I'd say it was a dramatic improvement. LOL

Anita Baker is not a jazz singer, but this tribute adds a jazz flair, with some scat.

Okay, here you go Grandpa! Maaaan...I've already watched this episode of the fabulous Rosemary Clooney Show. I'm just joshing you. I actually like Mel Torme. And Clooney's okay, but I mostly remember her for this jingle (I don't know why, I never bought this product):
