Does UCLA bring in a middle for 2021? Obviously setting was a mess but that position needs a lift They've got that gal from Romania, I think.

What was Cal's passing like this season? They get a really good setter in Maeder, Mima should be back right? Move Grote to opposite in a 5-1? Mima should be back and Smoot should play. I think their libero may have been out a lot of the season. I know she was for part of it. Mima needs to transfer to Stanford as a DS/OH.

With Mima and Smoot on the left and Grote at Opp, Cal should be competitive.

We don't have a fall 2021 conference thread yet, but these are my conference predictions for next year (new information about transfers notwithstanding): 1- UCLA 2- UW 3- Stanford 4- Oregon 5- Washington State 6- USC 7- Arizona 8- Colorado 9- ASU NCAA Tournament Cutoff 10- Cal 11- Utah 12- OSU I think UCLA/UW/Stanford/Oregon/WSU/USC are all sweet 16+ quality teams next year Move Stanford and ucla down three or four spots. EDIT: and ASU isn’t making the tourney unless Rollins transfers there.

I’m excited to see how USC does. They’ve been getting some good transfers and if Botkin stays (I’ve seen posts saying she is and others saying she isn’t) i think they’ll be a very good team. Also, I hope UCLA can get a good transfer setter. That and the fact that they’re getting a good middle by the sounds of it, they should be very good too (hopefully anyways lol)

I basically asked that if the Big 12 came calling, which PAC 12 schools would be receptive to an invitation And we answered you: "none of them". You didn't like that answer. This topic is worth re-reading now, isn't it? Pages 25-28 in case anyone is interested.

horns1 , if everything is so rosy in the Big12, why would you want other schools to come join you? Roses are red . . .

It's comical that you have no clue about big time collegiate athletics. If you believe the PAC 12 schools are happy about their last place financial status among the P5 conferences, you are dead wrong. Wrinkle your nose at "teams in Kansas and Oklahoma" all you want; they are raking in more TV revenue than the "blue blood programs of the West". And, their financial future is much brighter at the moment. Well, then you misunderstood what I said. I make no representation to suggest that the Pac-12 schools are *happy* about their "last place financial status among the P5 conferences". What I said was that the blue blood programs of the west, in particular - the 4 Cal Schools, Oregon and Washington, are NOT going to leave the Pac-12 try and foster some sort of relationship with the Big 12 and establish rivalries with schools in Kansas and Oklahoma just for the potential for a few extra million in tv revenue. If there is declining interest in the traditional Pac-12 footprint for revenue sports, that's not going to change because Cal plays Kansas State every year in Football. Well, the 2 LA schools didn't sniff the Big 12, but they have grabbed the millions the B1G waved at them. I guess USC and UCLA can form new rivalries with Iowa and Indiana as Oklahoma will be forming new rivalries of their own in the SEC

Money aside, are Texas fans just completely forgetting about geography? Why would California schools agree to join a conference where they would have to travel almost 3,000 miles and 3 time zones to play West Virginia? Or even 2,000 miles and 2 time zones to play Iowa State? The Arizona schools have a history with the Border Conference (and specifically Texas Tech), and Colorado obviously has a history with the Big 12. Those are the only 3 schools that make any sense. Correct. It's actually quite comical that *some* Texas fans think that that blue blood programs of the west will try and convince their fan base to care about teams in Kansas and Oklahoma all for a few extra million in TV revenue.LOL

No Pac12 university president would willingly move to a conference like the Big 12 (The Big Ten might be a different story), with its far flung small market locations. A significant amount of whatever payout the Big12 could offer would be eaten up by increased travel costs, and I wonder how enthusiastic any current Big 12 school not named Texas (and perhaps OK) would be about the total money pool possibly being diluted by adding new members. At any rate, it’s all just barstool talk until at least 2024, when new media deals are negotiated for the Pac12 and the Big 12 (who, it should be noted, doesn’t actually have a network, the only P5 conference without one). Then we’ll see what’s what. I think defections from the Pac12 would still be unlikely , particularly among the most desirable targets, but never say never. Good insight nearly 2 years ago. "Willingly" is a good word for the remaining PAC 12 schools should the Big 12 come calling . . .
