Looking at the trends for cases, I am increasingly convinced that all this talk about "how we play NCAA sports in the Fall" is going to be moot. I will point out that the NCAA has already ruled that if the general population of students are not allowed on campus, then the school is barred from playing athletics. Do you have a link to this NCAA "rule"? I not only don't think they have made such a rule, I don't think they are authorized to make a rule like this. You’re right. It’s absolutely not a rule. It’s likely that’s a line that college administrators won’t be willing to cross, but it’s up to the individual school.

I assume that means that for both sides it is more important to be vindicated than to resolve the monetary issues. I would not assume that is mutual. Stanford has no need to be "vindicated" by the proceedings. I believe it means that Stanford finds the plaintiff’s demands to be unreasonable. Doesn't Stanford have a huge vested interest in quietly and/or completely squashing this to avoid setting a precedent that would encourage other athletes to sue for damages when injured? If the Hodson's lose, they may be outraged and may be out some perceived damages. If Stanford loses, they open themselves up to a ton of litigation from current and former injured athletes, now and into the future.

Not sure why you and others (@bigwestfan2 ) keep saying all P5 are going conference-only. Did you miss the ACC announcement 3 days ago? It was not a headline story, so may have slipped under radar. I am going to believe their AD's / Presidents over guys on internet. Speculation based on the direction things are going. I mean, cancelling Fall sports is still on the table. I think the conference only is being discussed as a safety issue - by not multiplying cross contamination of players with open non conference scheduling. Notre Dame football is the elephant in the room related to ACC. Now that ND cannot play any B1G school this year - ND may be open to an ACC only conference schedule. I think the ACC needs a ND buy-in to proceed. I suspect the SEC will come down with conference only at some point. SEC just announced they are (currently) following the ACC model for Olympic sports - not PAC / B1G. My guess is that B12 splits the difference with Sept 7 start or such. www.secsports.com/article/29456848/sec-volleyball-soccer-xc-competition-postponed

RPI is toast. I'll be surprised if any of the P5 play preseason.

I'm not talking about travel pods. 21:38 "RPI is toast...this year". He's HC of the preseason NC favorites. You don't think he's got a good idea of the potential changes to tournament selection criteria?

Should be interesting if/when we get to that stage. P.S. His worries about non-conference opponents not testing I believe will be rendered moot by a NCAA mandate this week or next. Seems incredible that smaller DI's would not be testing their athletes, but maybe.

All I did was state the conference was looking at "travel pods". It's not like Wisconsin would miss out on the tournament regardless of how the tournament presents itself. Just hope there IS a tournament! I think they're the favorite to win as well. I can live with a screwed up ranking analysis this year...I just want to see volleyball, period!

I just want to see volleyball, period! I would like to see volleyball, but not if it compromises the health of the players, coaches, staff, broadcasters, refs, etc. I am fine if the decisions lean toward excessive safety rather than excessive risk.

I lean toward mikegarrison and think that I’d be surprised if there is actually a post season. If anything, an incredibly abbreviated one will almost certainly have an asterisks for the winner.
