I didn’t see a thread on the Big12, so here’s one. I think we all know that the Big12 will probably be a two team race between Baylor and Texas. Don’t know much about all the teams, so feel free to add some outlooks.

The dark horse will definitely be Kansas they have some good transfers. Kansas is actually the only team I do know about. Kansas finished 6th in the Big12 last year, but was dead last in every major statistical except for blocking (They finished 3rd, and they are usually always a good blocking team). Kansas with graduation and transfers, Kansas lose 8 players. However, Kansas brings in a solid recruiting class and some good transfers. Potential Lineup OH: Sr. Mosser OH: Jr. Shaw MB: Jr. Langs MB: Fr. Crawford RS: Jr. Szabo S: Sr. Nielsen L: Fr. Schultz For Kansas, In most categories, they can’t get worst (since they were last). With this lineup the only returning starters are Langs and Nielsen with everyone else being new not just to the starting lineup, but to the team. I really like the additions of Mosser and Szabo because both players are battle tested. Mosser played three years in the Pac12 and Szabo didn’t start much at Nebraska, but she’s gone up against some really good arms at practice. The likes of Foecke, Sun, Sweet, and Kubik, Davis, and Albrecht. Shaw is an interesting pick up. Crawford is the Big12 preseason Freshman of the year, so expectations are already high for her, but her success may be dependent on another freshman in Schultz who some expect to come in and win the libero spot. Kansas’ passing was horrible last year so they need Schultz to be good in her first year and one of Angello, Farris, and Suter to step up. There’s good talent on this team, but we’ll see how they jell since pretty much everyone is new. Would like to see if Szabo or/and Mosser play 6 rotations. Kansas’ passing hasn’t been good for a while now

Kansas’ passing hasn’t been good for a while now I am going to bet Ferris will start the year at Libero - I do like Schultz and think she will help. Next year Bein will be with the team. I think Van Driel will start at MB to start the season - and Van Driel, Langs, and Crawford will be playing roughly equal time. I think either Mosser or Shaw will be playing 6 rotations and maybe both. This should be the big improvement over last year on serve receive - as that 3rd person was usually horrible and put stress on the entire team.

A couple years ago it looked like there might be some talent coming in to move the scale, but it just seems to get stale every year. This conference is in a hotbed of volleyball talent and I don't get why there isn't more movement. New coaches are not living up to expectations as far as I can see. Seems like the conference schools with their resources could do a better job attracting the Elliotts that are out there and available instead of these poorly schooled and relatively inexperienced lower level coaches they attract. I Like the top of the conference, but the bottom schools need to work harder and get some new blood in there.

I’m hoping my team (K-State) can at least show some improvement this season after 3 very disappointing seasons.

Your team was snubbed, one of the worst of the decade!

They have the talent but have not been able to deliver.

And thank goodness Baylor looks like it might have some staying power with their future recruiting. Ever since Nebraska left the Big 12, it’s really been Texas and then the Big 12 conference, which, without Texas, is about on par with the the ACC or perhaps Big East. A second quality team every now and then but no consistent elite team. It’s no wonder why Elliot wants to start the NCAA tournament early, he’s bored.

Iowa state seems to have removed themselves from the conversation in recent years. Pretty disappointing

Success of anyone but Texas seems to ride on a team getting the 1-2 superstars that really pull up the team for a few years, until their eligibility runs out. Kansas, and now Baylor on the crest of the wave. The question is if the coach can recruit at that high level so that injuries and transfers don't dent the pipeline of future players.
It seemed that Kansas was going to ride the wave brought on by Payne and Rigdon, until suddenly their successors didn't pan out or stick around. Now it's Baylor's turn with the rise brought on by Stafford and Pressley and the question of how their pipeline after them is going to turn out.
Texas has usually 3 superstars leading the team and has consistently replaced those with future stars, to the detriment of the shorties in the back. The fact that Jerritt couldn't reel in a single 2021 player is troubling, but that's what transfers are for I suppose.
