Diouf numbers are a little stronger but I agree, with Carter holding up her team all season and K-State being in 3rd she has a good chance of getting it. Martin is way down on the list of setters in stats no way she is even in contention. She splits time with the other setter who was injured in the beginning of the year. Zerwas, Kirby and Nichols are ahead of her in assists per set. Gabriel is going to get it. The only setters who I thought would have a chance is McLaughlin and she opted out this season and Mauck and Sedwick where out in the beginning of season which really hurt their numbers and their performance since hasn’t been as impressive as last year. Zerwas sure has improved and I think was crucial in WV doing so much better this year. For some reason, I was sure Martin ran a 5-1. As a Texas fan, I'm perfectly happy with Gabriel winning it. Take the crown sis. They haven’t ran a 6-2 at all, just switch setters running a 5-1. I prefer Martin - I think the offense is smoother with her in there, but she is a senior and they want Adams (sophomore) to get more experience. That could be why Martins numbers aren’t better since they sometimes switch during a set. Looking at the stats, the team averages 11.98 assists/set but Martin only accounts for 9.55. She is a very good setter and I've been impressed by her. She had a triple double vs. OU.

TCU’s Katie Clark picked up her first Big 12 Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week and second career award. Texas’ Brionne Butler garnered defensive honors for the fourth time this season and earned her seventh career accolade. Kansas State’s Aliyah Carter was recognized for the third consecutive week as she earned her fifth Big 12 Volleyball Rookie of the Week. Clark finished with 25 kills on .340 hitting with 1.13 blocks per set as the Horned Frogs swept a conference series at Oklahoma. She was the only TCU player to record at least three kills/set, .300 hitting and one block/set. The junior MB made three kills in extra points in Saturday’s opening set, defending two Oklahoma set points and setting up TCU with its final set point to help the Horned Frogs earn a critical opening set victory. Butler was close to a double-double performance against No. 6 Baylor with 12 blocks and nine kills. She finished the week with 21 total blocks and 18 kills in two matches. In two wins over Baylor this spring, Butler has produced 19 kills and 17 blocks. Carter notched her second straight match with at least 20 kills, as she turned in 22 in a three-set win over Wayne State. Her 22-kill output was one shy of matching K-State's single-match record for a three-set match and marked Carter's sixth match with over 20 kills. She also recorded six digs and a block in the Wildcats' third straight win.

Watched her several times in high school as she played for the cross-town rival of my local high school. Also congrats to Brionne.

For some reason, I thought Big 12 awarded Defensive Player of the Year instead of Libero of the Year. Would've thought Bri was a lock for that, especially after the season she's having blocking.

It is odd because the POWs are Defensive but the POY is Libero. Last season awards: Player of the Year Yossiana Pressley (Baylor), Setter of the Year Hannah Lockin (Baylor), Libero of the Year Keyton Kinley (Oklahoma), Freshman of the Year Skylar Fields (Texas) and Ryan McGuyre (Baylor) Coach of the Year.

Looks like Texas and Baylor will be all that will make the tournament. I wish I could make an argument for K-State.
