Boy, I cannot understand this league anymore. It seems they are on a downward trajectory that is hard to explain. Texas losing to Rice and now Baylor upset by Texas State ( TTU cancelled their last two matches against them and probably would have taken a couple losses at the end of the year. ) You can blame Covid and make all the excuses, but to me they are getting bettered by teams in their own neighborhood ( a hotbed of talent. ) Is it recruiting? Coaching? I don't see this happening elsewhere Big 10, Pac 12, SEC, etc. What's going on here?

It may seem like they are deteriorating but then looking deeper you have teams like WVU and KState who made great strides this year. Kansas has a ton of talent and doing well in getting top recruits but they certainly underperformed as did Oklahoma and TCU. Baylor and Texas are still top of the class in conference and nationally. With just 9 teams in conference and if this would be a 64 team field they would have ⅓ of their teams qualify. I think the coaching quality is there as well. I just think that recruiting needs to improve to give the bottom teams more depth. Having 1 or 2 top quality players isn’t going to get them over the hump. Would love to see B12 expand as well and get up to 12 teams

The three conferences you listed (Big 10, Pac 12, SEC) did not play any out of conference games this year. Might be one reason you didn't see it happen elsewhere.

Kind of surprised Baylor got that 12 seed...those wins over Pepperdine and Rice must’ve really paid off to offset the losses to Kansas and Texas State along with the 4 Texas losses. Regardless, it’s good for the B12 that both of our tourney teams got seeded.
