I think it was an incredibly stupid thing for Frost to say I can admire his passion for wanting his players to be able to play, and his willingness to explore all options. But, I think he could have chosen his words more carefully. Finally, a realistic voice of reason.

We don't encourage Longhorns. It just makes them even more obnoxious.

God save me from sanctimonious , self involved people who know what’s best for a college whether it be academically or sports. If you we’re half as brilliant as you think you are you would all be billionaires. Gag! Presidents at some of the greatest universities are most certainly the most qualified to make these decisions or at least as qualified as football coaches with physical education or communications degrees I was not referring to them...I was referring to all of you. Have you noticed you are experts on everything?

Wishful thinking, today in yet another meeting, it was understood and agreed on - There will be no BigTen supported athletics for 2010-11 season. Very hopeful for Fall 2011, only "if" people wear masks, social distance, believe this is real, and supporting our healthcare/scientists! COVID is here to stay, we need our specialist and Epidemiologist to come together, supported at all costs (maybe after Jan. 20) and develop a path similar to the early days of HIV/AIDS. There is no magic pill, or a person promising it will suddenly magically go away, or some Russian faux-vaccine. My biggest fear is people who are pushing for normalcy, that want everything open and back to business as usual, those that say masks don't matter ad this is all a hoax, or those pushing for schools to open for personal gain, we just don't know the aftermath or health ramifications of COVID in the future. Some of the current side effects of those who are post-COVID are very troubling.

I haven't heard anything like that today.

Miss, I would respectfully suggest that signing every single one of your posts, most of which are political to begin with, with an advertisement for your preferred candidate in November's election, might, just might, be a violation of the no-politics ban that supposedly still exists. Or is the board no longer on political lock-down?

It's not about right or wrong. His "tone" and words come across as being prepared to blaze his own trail, regardless of what other member schools decide to do: “We want to play a Big Ten schedule, I hope that’s what happens,” Frost said. “Our university’s committed no matter what that looks like and how that looks. We want to play no matter who it is or where it is, so we’ll see how those chips fall.
“We certainly hope it’s in the Big Ten. If it isn’t, then I think we’re prepared to look for other options.
His tone was that of a coach who wants his kids to play football. I fail to see anything wrong with what he said or how he said it. Good for him for sticking up for his players, his town and his state, the latter two of which are heavily dependent - uniquely so in the Big Ten - on revenue generated from football tourism. People complaining about Frost's tone apparently have no idea the financial devastation this will wreak on Lincoln. You may be right, but just comparing Lincoln (population approx. 290,000) to State College PA (population approx. 45,000) I'd guess that sports tourism revenues make up a higher percentage of total economic activity in State College than in Lincoln. So I'd think the economic devastation, while significant for both, would be greater for State College.

That's . . . not true? Look, I think it was smart to add Nebraska *and* Rutgers (lol) when they did. The last realignment necessitated every league taking an aggressive approach. Nebraska makes a lot of sense for the B1G. Passionate fanbase, traditional power, etc. There's no doubt Nebraska is getting the better part of that deal, though. They wouldn't come close to the same TV money in another conference. If they jumped back to the Big XII (who I'm sure would be happy to have them) the Big XII TV deal isn't going to magically increase to anywhere near B1G money and the B1G would find someone to take their place. It... IS true, which is why the Big Ten jumped at the chance to add Nebraska. We're a national brand, and the Nebraska diaspora means fans in all markets across the country. Don't get me wrong - none of this is to say that Nebraska is about to use any leverage to quit the league. That'd be foolish, and we know we are WAY better off in the Big Ten than anywhere else. If anything, Frost's (and the Admin's) recent comments may hint that they'd seek permission from the league to play some form of football this fall. That's all anyone should take from this. There is zero ZERO chance that Nebraska leaves the Big Ten, or wants to. sports.yahoo.com/big-ten-commissioner-kevin-warren-lashes-out-at-nebraska-after-critical-statements-023133028.html First-year Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren endured his first truly tumultuous news cycle this week. ...
Cornhuskers coach Scott Frost held a news conference Monday to essentially announce that Nebraska would attempt to go rogue if the Big Ten canceled the fall football season. The news conference doubled as a pep rally and the local media jumped aboard, speculating about future opponents without bothering to Google the phrase “grant of rights.”
The entire University of Nebraska doubled down on Frost’s chestiness on Tuesday in the wake of the Big Ten’s decision to cancel the fall season, saying it was “very disappointed.” The release included everyone from the chancellor to the coach and said Nebraska “[hopes] it may be possible for our student-athletes to have the opportunity to compete.” In other words, they stood on their porch in Lincoln and flipped off Warren in unison.
When Warren was asked specifically by Yahoo Sports if Nebraska could play college football this fall, he gave an answer that would make his hardline predecessor nod with approval.
“No,” he said, firmly. “Not and be a member of the Big Ten Conference.”

Could be. Frost doesn't live in State College or Pennsylvania, so that's not his focus. Likely if he was the head coach of the Nittany Lions he'd make a similarly impassioned speech about that.

I'm not here spouting political war, conspiracy theories or race devisions. Keep it cute, OR PUT ME ON MUTE! Most of my Goldies are so nice to me... too bad
