If there's no spring championship, what are you postponing for? For the obvious reason that there are still many months left to make a final decision for Spring, but the decision to short-circuit the Fall season needed to be made now. What is the benefit of making a decision before you have to? There are a lot of ramifications both in holding and not holding a Spring championship. There is no rush to make a decision right now, so spend the time figuring out how to handle scheduling, eligibility, scholarship counts, carrying over seniors into Fall of 2021, etc. Zero reason to make a decision prior to working all of that out. For starters, the NCAA hasn't shown that they'll do anything other than delay, delay, delay until they're out of time then throw their hands up in the air and say "sorry, it is what it is".

Thanks, I'm glad you appreciate my attempt at humor. Theres some guy here who runs a video sharing site with videos of matches from previous seasons. I need to find that website, was it tom mclean or something? Has anyone ever tried getting videos through their DA or BTN (or whichever network their conference is affiliated with?)? I havea feeling I would just get laughed at before being hung up. Someone needs to make a thread on ideas of how to get our volleyball fix during these trying times. Get involved in international volleyball. Turkey and Italian leagues are the best. Where does one go to follow these leagues? Do I have to buy a subscription to Flo?

SEC apparently is trying to recruit teams to play in a fall football season. Could this also happen for volleyball? BYU is also looking.

Unfortunately, there isn't a single source for each of them. Flo aired the Italian League last year along with the Champions League (I think). Apparently streaming availability for the Turkish league is pretty spotty. Lots of Americans in the German league. Not sure how those are streamed.

So we keep getting posts that say "sources" confirm there will be no fall volleyball. But do we have any official confirmation at this point? Is it really going to be tomorrow? Or should we not expect any official statement soon?

No one, NO ONE AT ALL, is convinced they can run a season this fall. The ONLY reason they were attempting it is because of the revenue generated by football programs. I'm amazed I have to state that at this stage. True. And maybe 'convinced' was too strong of a word. But if there is an SEC schedule and neither school is experiencing a COVID outbreak, the SEC might still want to play those matches if they're playing football. If and when legislation is approved about a spring championship, then you can pivot. A few things; from what I'm told, the vast majority of SEC volleyball HCs wanted to postpone the season anyway. Given that the NCAA have already said they'll cancel the fall championship in any sport that loses greater than 50% of the members, there will be no NCAA fall vb championship once the B1G, Pac, ACC etc are out anyway. How do you expect to sell your athletes on a 10 game volleyball season with no national championship, when the rest of the country had pulled out, while they KNOW the only reason they're playing is so football can generate revenue? Sorry, I know you think that everyone is desperate to play, but we're past that point now.

So nothing from the B1G on canceling. Please provide a link. It all seems to trace back to comments that Dan Patrick made on his radio show this morning. He said Big Ten presidents voted 12-2 to NOT have a fall football season (Iowa and Nebraska with the dissenting votes).

But if SEC football plays (or at least tries), and they are providing that opportunity to football players and are saying it's safe for them, how do you justify doing something different with the other fall sports?

It seems like it was everywhere so it looked like a done deal, but now am hearing from other reporters conflicting reports that no vote has taken place. So take with a grain of salt, I mean we are on a message board here. edit: Detroit free press has talked to other sources. So no idea really. Maybe after getting a bunch of panic calls from other ADs, they change their minds. Guess we will all know tomorrow! FREEP: Big 10 expected to vote to cancel football season

You justify it by saying your championship was cancelled. You do it because, at this stage, the proposed SEC VB season isn't in the interests of the schools, the coaches or the players. VB has been held hostage by football throughout this entire process. Electing to pursue a volleyball season, when every other conference has cancelled, solely "because FB is" would be the sporting equivalent of Stockholm Syndrome!

The SEC seems to be having none of it.
