I personally don’t foresee any transfers. Robyn definitely is not a coach for everyone, but she’s a coach everyone on her team loves and respects.
Kaleo is also a huge part of the team, and as far as we are aware, he’s still there too. That’ll help

I am thinking it could be the Shoji brothers who will replace Coach Ang. But that announcement will not occur until after the Olympics. We all know how close the Shoji brothers are to Wahine Volleyball.

Wow - tough offseason for the Wahine. Losing Hellvig, Rasmussen, and now a really good assistant. Plus, not landing any transfers to fill holes.
I’m sure they’ll be fine, but ouch.

Lol you know that “landing transfers” isn’t actually a go to recruiting strategy for most successful programs? It helps but it’s not supposed to be the norm…

Wish Coach the absolute best. Definitely seems like pressing family issues and it has to be serious to warrant uprooting life and heading back to Sweden. Definitely agree with what brooselee said about holding the position open and hoping we can get quality volunteers, especially those who can help us in the offensive/ blocking department. My heart goes out to her and hope that whatever the situation is that her family finds comfort in each other throughout.

Hawaii needs a Jaylen Reyes type on their staff that can hit home runs with recruiting!

Haha its all good Devin is a fantastic player and looks like she’s got more dynamic as the years have passed. Any program would be happy to have her, out of the 3, Washington looks like the only one that would be worth it for her to go to. And why’s that? From what it looks like, Washington has the most need for a “go to” 6 rotation player which she has always been and would likely develop the best at. Not much a fan of Washington, respect them as a program but haven’t really been impressed with them since the Cassie Strickland days. I just see them as a program that could use “A face” and Devin could be that if that’s what she wants. I have no idea what the plan is with Texas and keeping all of those high level pin hitters happy but she could slot in there post-Eggleston. From what i gather USC is pretty set as far as recruits but i could be mistaken.

Washington has held its own in the pac and has been a VERY good team

I’ll have to disagree because correct me if I’m wrong, Washington will have 3 or 4 outsides by the time Devin gets to Campus versus Texas who will have 2 or 3 (if Eggleston stays an extra year). I actually think eve. USC will be thin on the pins by 2022 as well.

Ok i could be mostly talking out of my butt lol so i guess i should look into who UW has coming in but I haven’t seen any upper tier recruits. USC i definitely could be mistaken because I don’t know the grad years of who they have now or even what they will look like in the future with who they have recruited but i know they have some decent pins coming in and Devin doesn’t strike me as a “wait your turn” pin. Big Texas fan but they simply don’t use (nor really need to) their depth. Either way, not too interested in talking about Devin anymore in the Hawaii thread as she will not be a Wahine so best of luck to her, wherever she chooses

I suspect we should be hearing an announcement soon now that nationals are over. Is UW hunting another hitter for 22? I think they are focused on a MB if possible for 2022. Hitter in 2023.

Noooooo! Although she was known as a great player, she’ll leave her as a great coach despite not being here for too long. She was great for the girls and program and will be dearly missed I bet they’re wishing JH was still around. What a mistake to let him go. Now Matlin is regretting that decision. Meanwhile JH is probably feeling some sort of vindication for being let go. Thanks Coach Ang for all you’ve done. We’ll miss you.

I wonder if Mike Maidment(Anna’s Dad) wants the beach job. He is currently helping Kevin Wong’s Spike and Serve beach staff. His write up and coaching background looks pretty impressive. Might be kind of awkward for Anna but might be a good candidate for UH. Canada has been sending us very good beach players and he could continue that pipeline. Mike was a former professional player himself and also coached a professional team from Japan. The dude got plenty of coaching experience. Come to think of it, he could even help Robyn and fill Anglelica’s spot of being the associate HC for indoor and the HC for beach. www.facebook.com/permalink.php?id=347638971916539&story_fbid=5476531062360612
