Surprise she’s not on the radar for the National team!!! She's been invited to the gym. She's playing in one of the most competitive leagues, suffice to say, if she has a breakout season they'll bring her back. Serve-Receive is her weakness still.

So the new ESPN partnership won’t change the regulars who do Wahine Volleyball color commentary and play by play right? If it does I’m suing lol

If it does I’m suing lol Spectrum still controls the broadcast, ESPN is just streaming it on the mainland. Everything should look the same including commentators. So in Hawaii it’ll still be available on TV and blacked out online to locals, but mainland users will have to pay for ESPN+.

Some of the new UH roster bios are up:
Martyna Leoniak "Also considered Grand Canyon, NC State, BYU, Pittsburgh St. John's, Colorado and Fresno State."
Ilayda Demirtas "Received offers from 22 other schools including Arizona State and American University"
Mia Johnson "2019 Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-Star."
Tayli Ikenaga "2018 OIA East Player of the Year"
Nothing on Annika De Goede at the moment, but we know she has Dutch youth team experience. Interesting to see what other schools offered these girls.

Janelle Gong just got a scholarship per IG. That’s interesting considering she really hasn’t played much. I haven’t seen anything really spectacular from her since she’s been with the team. She’s used very sparingly. Do we have that many schollies to give away?

Does that mean Kyra is maybe on a Hawaiian scholarship?

Janelle Gong just got a scholarship per IG. Good for her, it doesn’t seem like she was able to make any of the Beach pairs but i wonder if her practicing with the sand team has helped put her ahead of the other Defensive Specialists for indoor. It’s been over a year since Hanawahine has competed/practiced in any meaningful setting. I think that position is what im more interested in finding out over anything else. Does UH have a good a enough libero to run a 5-1 comfortable, are the setters and pins better than the bros so they go back to the non traditional 6-2 subbing for the middles, or is neither the case and we have one really good setter and back row players split time at either DS/libero for the middles either 3/3 or all 6 rotations set to set. It’s been a year, but we’re that much closer to seeing who did what to become THAT player during this extended offseason

Janelle Gong just got a scholarship per IG. Oh, so she's reached Akiu/Kahakai/Ka'aihue level now?

I’m wondering if the girls have gone through there fitness testing? How did everyone do? I have no doubt that Amber has done well as well as some of the others. If we could find out some of there results it would tell us who has been working and ready to go for the upcoming tournaments.

Guessing Gong will graduate and forgo a senior year after this season. Makes sense. Hawaii will need a couple scholarships for Alexander and Matias next season.

Scholarship doesn’t have to always be athletic related. Maybe Janelle is a superb student and great with community services. Since the season is about to start and no one else is coming in, might as well reward it to a player who rep Hawaii well.
Scholar athlete every single year st UH. She has been here for 4 years and a walk on to boot. Kyra transferred here from Oregon so Janelle is ahead of Kyra in terms of being a Wahine longer.
Well deserved IMHO.

I agree. Her loyalty paid off by getting scholarship. Since the season is about to start and no one else is coming in might as well give her a 1 year full scholarship. I think she deserves it.
