Make up your damn mind already, seasons should have started weeks ago. How much preparation for gamedays, what kind of time frame to put together realistic schedules and would teams be ready to go competitively if so?

I haven’t been one to defend the big ten lately, but I wouldn’t consider a Thanksgiving start a ‘mind change’. It’s moving the season 3 months later for a winter season instead of a fall season.

what else do you expect from a conference that can't even accurately count how many members it has.

what else do you expect from a conference that can't even accurately count how many members it has. They can accurately count. They just choose not to.

I thought this was the plan from the get go, to put off the start of the season until Winter Spring. The only question is whether the weather and the virus will allow it.

They just choose not to. or maybe they just consider only 10 of the members to be "big" while the other 4 are little or something. (hmm, this subject could go downhill quickly)

what else do you expect from a conference that can't even accurately count how many members it has. Good point, it's been a problem since (what) Penn State joined. But the fact they are considering starting up the season late, or in January, when they typically try to end the regular season a week before Thanksgiving, because (you know) it can get pretty damn cold in places like Ann Arbor or Minneapolis, doesn't make a lot of sense. OTOH, if they can't count, maybe it does make sense.

OTOH, if they can't count, maybe it does make sense. They will not be playing in the cold. It is usually not too unbearably cold in the north in November and even into December. I would try to play 1 or 2 games for each team on campus before switching over to the domes in Detroit, Indy, Minneapolis, etc. I do not understand Thanksgiving, other than it being a convenient holiday to aim for. I would have aimed for first weekend of November. The spit test that Abbott Labs announced recently appears to alleviate a large part of the concern about spreading the virus as it is cheap, fast and easy. The rollout of that test is supposed to have massive capacity sometime in October. First week of November should be as doable as Thanksgiving. If anything is ultimately doable. Also, this comes back to the question of why did the B1G make the decision when they did, rather than continuing to delay until you could no longer delay.

I think that matters.
