BenU with back to back wins AT Vanguard changes some things. The National scene is a mess. Grand View is a clear #1. Beyond that, I’d lean Campbellsville then maybe a blend of BenU, Indiana Tech, Missouri Valley/Park/MoBap and Jamestown. Thankfully there are plenty of games to be played, but this is a year full of parity.

Anyone have a list of top games for this upcoming week? Missouri Valley hosts Grand View; Cardinal Stritch hosts St. Xavier on Tuesday. Lourdes hosts St. Xavier, Indiana Tech is at Siena Heights, Aquinas hosts Goshen, and Jamestown travels to Grand View on Friday.

I know the USK picked up I think a 6'7-9 OH/OPP and I was wondering if any of yall know if he's good or not. I've seen him put up a massive block and hit some pretty good balls, but I don't really know much about him. He’s alright. Obviously gonna put up a big block at his size but his mobility seems okay. Offensively seems like he plays smaller than he is. USK plays twice this Saturday so we will see if he can play well for a long period of time or if it’s just in spurts.

Thankfully there are plenty of games to be played, but this is a year full of parity. It's Grand View, and then a bunch of schools that are pretty similar. That BenU/Vanguard match was the highest level match that I had seen this season, and it was good to see BenU get to finally play this season. The issue with both of those teams is that they do not play anyone else good the rest of the season. Tier 1: Grand View Tier 2 (in no particular order): Campbellsville Mo Bap Missouri Valley Benedictine Jamestown Park Vanguard I am still not sold on Indiana Tech, Saint Xavier, or Lourdes being in the same tier as the above teams, but I am always happy to be wrong! Life is one of those teams that could jump in there, but I guess we will see see how it all shapes up.

It’s hard to be sold on anyone but GV at this point. Campbellsville needs some wins outside of the Mid South, BenU did a lot for themselves last weekend - as for MoBap, MoVal, and Park - I think we’ll find out none are top-5 caliber quite yet but in a month and a half, all 3 could be.

Does a win put the other in that Tier? Does it have to be a decisive win?

I've seen him put up a massive block and hit some pretty good balls, but I don't really know much about him. Riley Owen transferred to USK from Briar Cliff after they dropped their program before this school year. He was the starting RS on a pretty good Briar Cliff team. He should be a big help to USK. I checked USK's roster, though, and their top OH from the last couple years, Michael Orzech, is not on the roster.

I could see Saint Xavier jumping in that next tier, I just haven't been super impressed from what I have seen. They are definitely big, and the Ooms brothers are some good players, but I just don't think they are there quite yet. They also haven't played a quality opponent, so I doubt we have seen their best. Looking forward to seeing that match against Lourdes though.

Please remove any conversation regarding Indiana Tech being a “tiered” team.... they just lost to Siena Heights. Yuck!!!! I believe that calls into question Lourdes as well since they recently beat Lourdes, but from the looks of it Lourdes is about to potentially sweep St, X so that looks better for them.
Edit: Lourdes is struggling and could drop this match in 5, may have spoken too soon on the sweep. A win for Lourdes will still look good though
Edit: Lourdes wins and looked solid to finish. #15 is an animal, 28 kills and a .440

Watching Jamestown now and they will be in top 5 ahead of Vanguard for most of the season.
Don’t think Vanguard is really playing any teams with much talent.

Hard to remove a team from contention with two top-5 wins and 1 loss to a RV team. Good for Siena Heights. They finished last year top-15 and really haven’t played this season.. It looks like that conference has another quality team. I’m anxious to see how Lourdes - Siena goes later this weekend. Jamestown is good, just not super deep. When GV needed to go to that next level tonight, they had no issues - I think Vanguard is solid as well. Will likely work that conference and see how good they are at nationals.

Siena is not good.... period. That’s a BAD loss. If Lourdes loses to Siena, I would say the same thing about then. I watched Siena get smoked by MVN... a first year and also very bad program. No matter how you spin it.... Indiana tech just had a horrific loss

Crazy night at level. Jamestown v Grandview and Lourdes V Saint Xavier both going 5 sets. Also the Indiana Tech upset and the hands of Sienna heights. The one thing no one can argue that a month and a half into the season it’s shaping up to be a great year. The rest of the year should be electric with hopefully a great national tournament. Let’s pray we can get fans there.
