Can Kalynn Meyer be a red shirt freshman this fall? She really doesn't have much game time!

Purdue’s Jena Otec is returning for another season! wonder if she’ll keep the jersey...? She’ll have 2 Hornungs to fend off now.

Both are ridiculously good defenders. Hornung has the edge in passing; Otec has the edge in leadership and OOS sets (IMO). Have no clue how Ali Hornung is going to play a factor yet. I know I'm looking forward to that back court defense being one of the best in the conference.

I know the trifecta of Ellis, Koch, and Chinn will be competing (imagine if Newton comes back...),but I’ve always thought Dave never shut the idea down of her potentially playing all of the way around.

I'm not against it... but also can't remember the last time Purdue played a 5'10 OH in the front row other than with Otec to get us out of a bad passing rotation. Though Epenesa might've been closer to 5'11 than 6'0. I definitely think Chinn, Ellis, and Koch are the go-to players for the front row until they graduate (I don't forsee Newton coming back though we can still dream!) and as long as Purdue can put up a good pass with any combinations of Otec and the Hornungs or Schermerhorn, Bush will get that ball to a middle or Cleveland who I fully expect going back to 6-rotations this fall with maybe Chinn eventually joining her to prepare for 2022.

Azariah Stahl was also 6'0", but a) had pretty good vertical and b) was also maybe not quite as effective as you'd want.
I checked the rosters starting from when I first had season tickets, in 2011, and Val Nichol is the only other OH listed at 6'0", and that was as S/OH (except for most of her senior year when that hand injury kept her at OH). Purdue in that era was a little shorter than now but still didn't list anyone under 6' as an OH.
IIRC every multi-position player Shondell's brought in around that height ended up at L or DS. Too many tall players to hit around.
I don't know if Purdue has ever had this kind of depth - normally they don't even carry as many players as they had in 2020ish. This should be a really fun season. Hopefully they have one more player for 2021 ...
