Sounds like Hayley Densberger is as well! Hayley's not (she announced that awhile ago). What Cook said: Stivrins — second in kills and the blocks leader — will try to play for Nebraska this season, back willing, Cook confirmed, noting that she played injured this past season. For that matter, every Husker but pin hitter Jazz Sweet, who has turned pro, and defensive-specialist Hayley Densberger, will be back, and Nebraska’s incoming group of six freshmen is among the nation’s best. Did I read this wrong? I guess I did!

It's OK. I wish you were right. Hayley was always excellent when they brought her in to serve. It isn't the easiest role to play and she did very well. Our incoming freshman are going to be great to see. This is a very exciting time for Husker Volleyball. Three players are with the U20 team now and that experience will translate to good things for the Huskers. GBR!

I get it but, as a fan, I'm disappointed. She's way more than ready to be in a bigger stage. Is she eligible to be 5th year First Team All American? I think Wisonsin wins how many seniors can we bring back this fall. I'm sorry but these girls need to realize theres more to volleyball and move on. I'm pretty disappointed Dana is staying an extra year, why not go pro? Youre only delaying getting to the olympics if she could even get to that level. This Wisconsin team seems like they cant let go Or... they get one more chance to play with their best friends? After this season, volleyball isn't fun and games anymore. Don't see why so many people care. They have probably weighed the pros of cons of turning professional vs. staying a few more months to play with their friends. It's not like they are making millions. Pretty easy decision, imho.

First it was Jordan Thompson deciding to play a 5th year instead of making 6-figures overseas. Now, it's a whole bunch of others.

It is their decision but I think as their fans, we just OUR OWN opinions.

These kids, many of whom didn't even get to play last year or had a significantly shortened season affected by quarantines and contact tracing, didn't have a choice of redoing their senior HS year to get to "play with their friends" one last time. And now they face the uncertainties of will there even be space or scholarships available for us with all the returners.

If they HADN'T given everybody an extra year, we would've seen a massive number of athletes opt out of this past season. To the point of where it might not have happened for many teams. And They'd still be permitted to play a 4th season (in 5 years) based on already-existing NCAA rules. So the same backlog of 5 classes in 4 years would've still happened.

I suspect full rosters also limited transfer opportunities. The extra year of eligibility helps. But there is no perfect solution. Covid sucks. Could be worse.

I don't think this popped up before, but Megan Rice is on the fall 2021 LMU roster. She was a freshman at UCSB in 2016, then played the 2017 and 2019 seasons at LMU - taking a redshirt year for injury in 2018. In 2020-21 she was exclusively on the beach team. And now, she appears to be returning for her final year of eligibility at LMU on the indoor team. She's an excellent hitter. lmulions.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/megan-rice/11597
