Would love to get both Parra and Malual to join the squad this month, but if I had to hope for just one, I would choose Parra because I think she can help us more from the service line, add another hitting option from the back row, and perhaps help our ball control. Of course, that would mean she has to unseat Petersen or Iosia to see court time. Malual would no doubt provide depth at the pins, which we don't have currently. We for sure need Cabello to be completely healthy and ready to contribute at a minimum in Shook's departed role as a blocking sub for Jhenna Gabriel. O’Brien, Iosia, and Parra all in the back row at the same time?😳 could be some great defense played back there!!!!

Silly me, I completely forgot that true freshman, OH Madison Williams should be ready to play this Spring after not seeing any action in the Fall as she was held out to completely heal/rehab from the ACL injury she sustained in high school over one year ago. That should help immensely with the depth at OH.

Someone mentioned in another thread that Morgan O’Brien wouldn’t be playing this spring... anyone know if there is truth to that? She's expressed that she's excited to be back in her insta.

Again, what is the proof that Parra will be a great addition back row and passer because when you watch the games she's played? I don't think she has been the best at passing? Like above average but not phenomenal.

I understand why they would make the assumption, but it may not show up. It’ll be something that will play out

And, I don't believe I ever used adjectives such as "great" or "phenomenal". All she has to be is "better" than the players seeing court time in the back row, and she can help the team.

I'm with you in principle but I'd go further. There are A LOT of ways a player can improve a gym without ever even seeing the floor.

Cant speak for anyone else, but because she has a lot of international experience playing all around, which, correct me if I’m wrong, not many Texas OH’s had that coming in as a true freshman.... I think many would prefer a recruit with a lot of international experience, than a recruit w/o and would assume they would have better decision making and better touches on the ball (defensively and offensively) but like you said it’s all assumption

She has literally played and held her own against the best players in the world at the age of 16. She is older & has grown each year so I just don't see her coming to Texas with all this experience and not living up to the expectations. She knows what she has to do and when I compare her to someone, I compare her to Amy Neal. Both undersized OH who have a very quick armswing. Parra is a great get and will be great at Texas

I hear all of you saying that she has played against high level teams but most of the clips that I've seen online is her high attack point/technique. I hope this is not based upon this. Attacking against high level teams does not translate great defense backrow or passing. I've tried watching games that shows her great defense and passing. She's a great player don't get me wrong. However, we can't say that she'll be an Amy Neal right away.

We should find out soon just how good she is.

I have watched pretty much every full match there is on Parra including her recent tournament she had in Mexico last month and I will say her backrow play as well as defense has improved from where she was in most videos. Her attack & arm swing has also got stronger and quicker. I'm not saying she will immediately come in and put up the numbers of Amy Neal I'm just saying when I think of what type of player she can be I would correlate her to Amy Neal.
