I love myself a rusty nail, what's wrong with you people?
Drambuie is highly underrated as a liqueur.
It's also really fun to say, esp. when drunk. So even better to order.

I prefer my scotch to taste like scotch. IMO, if you want to drink Scotch, you should drink Scotch. If you want to make mixed drinks, you should use some mamby-pamby alcohol like vodka or rum. This is a correct take. I do enjoy the occasional Moscow Mule or mojito.

Life is too short to drink bad Scotch, and if you put good Scotch in a mixed drink, you are a fool.
That being said ... I do actually use Laphroaig as a cooking ingredient. It has a very strong taste that brings out certain flavors very well. I make a very nice honey-scotch gelato.

I prefer my scotch to taste like scotch. (I *actually* prefer my scotch to taste like bourbon, but that's neither here nor there) not a big fan of scotch, but i think that's because i haven't developed my palate enough

That's also allowed. However, there are basically two families of Scotch, and many people who like Scotch only like one or the other of them. They are the island Scotches (which tend to have a lot of ocean flavors, like iodine, derived from seaside peat bogs) and the mainland Scotches (which tend to have no ocean flavors). And then there are regional differences within those families. And then there are differences between distillers. It's really more like wine than anything else -- lots of flavor variations.

Islay all the way. But yes, liking scotch is entirely unnecessary. There's plenty of other things to drink in this world. The only Scotch I have in my house right now is a blended bottle my father in law likes, but I have 6 or 7 bottles of bourbon and rye.

I do not much like bourbon or corn/rye blends. Too sweet and "corny" for my taste.

Today's theme is: Intro to Film Studies. Here are five questions about vocabulary terms from the movies.
1. Alfred Hitchcock popularized the term “MacGuffin” to describe an object that motivates a film’s characters and propels its plot. His first notable MacGuffin was the design for a silent airplane engine in what 1935 Robert Donat film? 2. “Chroma Keying” is the technical term for using green screens. When the technique was invented, however, the screens weren’t green. What color screen was used instead?
3. What 1950 Akira Kurosawa film serves as a stand-in for the concept of a story told by unreliable narrators with conflicting stories? 4. What is the eight-letter term for the positioning and moving of actors on a set or stage? 5. The assistant to the head electrician on a film set is traditionally known as the “best boy.” What 1980 comedy listed Adolf Hitler as the “worst boy” in its credits?

I've never had Elmer, but strangely enough, my wife had some last week. Visiting a friend whose husband is extremely into bourbon. I texted her a couple recommendations to look for in his collection (nice "starter" bourbons) and she texted back a picture of a bottle of Elmer and one of Weller 12. I was like, "forget what I said, drink those instead."

Famously, George Lucas ripped off Kurosawa (Hidden Fortress) when he made Star Wars. It was nice to see Rian Johnson do an homage to Rashomon in The Last Jedi. 4. Blocking 5. One of the Airplane movies, I believe.

The 39 Steps. Airplane! was correct.
1. Quit While You’re Ahead: The Five Pillars of Islam form the foundation of Muslim life. Name as many of the five pillars as you can for one point each. Zero total if you get any wrong.
2. What automaker’s name is an acronym for its much longer full name, which translates to English as “Italian Automobile Plant, Turin”?
3. Australia consists of six states. Which is the only state that isn’t part of mainland Australia?
4. What pattern of overlaid diamonds gets its design from the Scottish tartan of Clan Campbell?
5. Today is June 25th. On this day in 1993, Kim Campbell was sworn in as the first and so far only Prime Minister of what country?
