Quoting hammer , on the Stanford thread, below. In the WCC this affects only Santa Clara University (and San Jose State and Stanford), and visiting teams. Santa Clara U has announced the cancellation of their first 2 weeks of matches (LMU x 2 and BYU x 2). Hopefully they can resume competition for the remainder of the season, while undergoing a lot of nasal swabbing:
"This is what appears on the SCC website updated today, Jan 25, regarding collegiate and pro athletes and events in SCC:
1. All athletes, coaches, staff, trainers, volunteers, and other persons interacting with athletes (collectively, “Athletes and Personnel”) must receive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing on at least three non-consecutive days per week.
2. All Athletes and Personnel for any collegiate athletic program or professional athletics organization based in the County must receive PCR testing within 48 hours prior to any home or away competition if they will be at the facility where the competition takes place on the day of the competition. Both specimen collection and results reporting must occur within this time period.
3. Any team visiting Santa Clara County for a competition must test and provide results for all Athletes and Personnel who will be traveling to the county within 48 hours prior to the competition. Both specimen collection and results reporting must occur within this time period. Visiting teams must use PCR testing to comply with this provision."
Other Bay Area teams, San Francisco and Saint Mary's, are ON for tomorrow's matches. So 3 WCC teams: Pacific, San Diego and Santa Clara are not playing matches this week due to Covid.
Looking forward to at least being able to see a few WCC teams compete tomorrow.
