I wonder if the host venue even has the capacity to allow that much players per team for both the men and women's side. I do hope it's around the 21 player mark to allow changes depending on lineup and possible injuries. According to my quick search, the city seems to be a big tourist attraction (with several resorts) and with no tourists = plenty of room. They seem to have two big arenas/stadiums (one for each gender) That might be the logic with holding in here rather than a city with established volleyball arenas (Istanbul) or elsewhere in Italy I haven't been keeping up with how Italy is doing recently, but how do we know that there will be no tourists? Is it going to be specially closed off for this tournament to ensure safety? If it's not closed off then hosting the tournament at a popular tourist destination might have been the wrong way to go. I just hope everything can happen safely and smoothly so that teams can prepare for Tokyo.

(Obviously.. what isn’t beautiful in that region) It was just a day trip, though, and I was 17, which was 20 years ago... I don’t remember a ton about it.

I should rephrase to "less tourists" Im sure the FIVB/host picked a site where they could control their bubble, no outsiders allowed wherever they are. otherwise there would be no purpose to making a secure bubble.

This region is currently Orange, which means pretty much everything is closed. Travel to other regions in Italy isn’t even allowed I think right now? I would be shocked if tourists are allowed into this region any time soon.

Oh and the next paragraph reads: “But none for @toddyj bye!” I'm flattered you thought of me. They knew if I didn't approve it would be a bust. 😏😊🤷🏻♂️ I'm hyped and ready for some international ball!

With this vnl everyone will get a chance to play and show to get that final roster. With european league and pandemic. I see string countries will send their B/C team for few weeks and then maybe half till end mixed of Team A/B.

Well if they follow the rules in any way similar to the NBA's bubble you don't get to just come and rejoin the bubble whenever you feel like it. So the big question will be what is entry to the bubble going to be? Is it going to require a quarantine period? Will there be just one list and everybody has to come into the bubble to start with no additions?

Who do you think will win this VNL? Maybe Italy especially after that 2019 VNL Finals performance and now they're hosting it.

Who do you think will win this VNL? USA. I doubt China even sends a team. We could see news of more teams choosing NOT to participate.

I have a feeling/am hoping teams want to play some volleyball before the Olympics. Seems it would be a quite poor coaching decision to pass up the only tournament in 18 months before the Games.

Now there’s a pandemic that could be detrimental to their chances. Also the Olympics is a huge deal for them.

Olys is the biggest deal for them. They will definitely send their team in this bubble.

I am crossing my fingers that more teams will opt to send their best players but I also realize that that isn't a likely occurrence. I just hope the level of competition is at least somewhat elevated. You can bet Brazil and USA will send their A-Team's. Not sure about Europe. Italy might since they are the hosts.

Polish press released some details/rumors.
Italy got it because they were interested in hosting both the men's and women's tournament/bubbles. (Poland, Argentina, Iran, France, and Turkey wanted the men's)
Families will be allowed into the bubble (but at a price). Each team gets 25 people total (staff and players) according to this Polish press.
