Oof. 18 players + 7 staff. That's skimpy.
S: Carlini, Hancock, Poulter OH: Larson, Robinson, MBH, Hill OPP: Drews, Thompson, Lowe, Plummer MB: Ogbogu, Akinradewo, Adams, Washington, Dixon L: Courtney, Wong-Orantes
If this isn't the list I would honestly be shocked. I could see Karch leaving Plummer off for SWP which I think would be a waste and a mistake because I don't think any other OH will unseat the top 4, so why bring any others at all? If Dixon is injured I say bring Rettke in her place. Get her more experience.

because that means three days of nothing Watch the Men's game. It's a good time! Not a ton of rallies but I still like to support our USA boys. Plus the tournament is guaranteed to be way more competitive since most of the Men's teams will bring all of their top players.

I'm not an expert but I feel her season has not gone as well, especially with serving. She has made so many serve errors, I would feel worried about her being on VNL.

Like Pool A day 1 and Pool B day 2 They are basically using the same format from the previous two editions. The Women's tournament usually starts two weeks before the mens but by the 3rd week both tournaments are happening simultaneously with the women's matches during week and the men's on the weekends. I love it.

He has already said that she has a bright future with USAV if she wants it. She played most of the summer in 2019. I don't think she will make the cut if Dixon is healthy. All of the middles listed has been battling some sort of injury or are still recovering so who knows what the picture will look like in two months.

Anyone know when the Long rosters will need to be submitted by? Wide rosters will probably be announced mid/ending of April or beginning of May.

Well, I'm only speaking about what I think China's tendencies have been and not for the other countries whom I don't have enough historical data on what they tend to do before the Olympics. They're pretty hidden from society right now. No people can enter and exit their training bubble and it's all pre-meditated. They train from 8:15AM to 3PM and do homework after. The news I see of China now seem to indicate that they wouldn't want to leave that state until right before the Olympics. Lang Ping said this last month during an interview, "We are very looking forward to having some international competitions, especially before the Tokyo Olympics, we must play some games." She knows how important it is to get the team together to work on tactics and combinations against international opponents, no way she is heading into Tokyo just by playing scrimmages. She also said this, "The selection of the lineup should be based on the needs of the team and the status of the athletes. It also very important to do a good job of replacing the old and the new. Now there are some contradictions, we try to balance it well. I hope the newcomers will experience more training in international competitions." This was all said before Italy was announced as the VNL host so China might have changed their minds about what roster to bring now. If anything the only player that might be exempt from playing VNL is their middle blocker Yan Ni because of her age and condition, everyone else will and should be there. Now whether the main players play a large portion of VNL is still unknown. I think she'll use her bench majority of the time to figure out who gets those last remaining Tokyo spots. The same could be said for Serbia who I don't see taking VNL that seriously. China will likely send a team to VNL I agree. But their roster composition and starting line-up will likely not be the same for the Olympics. Lang Ping is very likely to mix up the starting line-up, to try different combination plays and so on. Her aim is to test out the players and strategies to see which one works best.

Do we think Plummer has a chance at backup OPP? Is a healthy Plummer > healthy Thompson?

I don’t disagree with this in theory; but in practice this sets a poor precedent, IMO. Too much of this is how you shrink your pool of athletes to choose from; if they’re working their ass of for you for four years, and you choose to leave them home in favor of new talent, eventually you’re not going to have anyone for more than a year or two. Why continue to work on your game if you know you’re disposable every time a new class graduates? Although I do see the flip side - in order to keep the new talent in your pipeline you need to put them on some rosters. Gah. I hate roster making.

So as per USNT website they have 22 in the roster. If they will bring 18 players. 4 players from these roster will be out for VNL and most likely from olympic and from 18 down to 12 players going to tokyo. Can somebody tell me why rivers is not listed here? She quite or kiraly did not give her a call. She is short for opposite but she is great and doing everything. usavolleyball.org/womens-national-team/
