Minnesota isn't the winner of that regional, Washington is.

Maybe I am old-fashioned but in my opinion the title of the best conference should be taken, not given. Well, that's a bit interesting, given the *many* structural advantages that the NCAA has allowed midwest teams to accumulate. The Final Fours are almost all selected in the midwest, most of the regionals are played in the midwest, and due to the regionalized selection, west coasts teams usually have to play tougher early rounds in order to advance. So excuse us if some of us kind of feel like the NCAA does their best to give an advantage to the midwest teams. (Oh, and despite that? Three of the last four national championships were won by Stanford. Kind of seems like if anybody holds the current title of "strongest conference" it's not actually the Big Ten.)

Are we really arguing about who is a 3 and a 4 seed? I mean, what is the difference? I bet they put them in those places because Minnesota had already played Nebraska. Compared to the basketball tournament, I feel like actually listing out #1-#16 creates more complaints. In basketball world, Penn State received a 4 seed, when they probably should've been a 6. UCLA got a 5 seed instead of a 4. Things like that are commonplace and people don't go nuts over it. Loyola-Chicago was Top 10 in the pre-tournament Pomeroy ratings and got an 8 seed! A basketball-style bracket would look like this. I think less specificity is better... BUCKY REGION-- 1. Wisconsin 8. Bowling Green 9. Weber State -- 4. BYU 5. UCLA 12. Rider -- 3. Ohio State 6. Missouri 11. South Dakota -- 2. Florida 7. Creighton 10. Morehead State BEVO REGION-- 1. Texas 8. Wright State 9. Samford -- 4. Penn State 5. Rice 12. NC A&T -- 3. Baylor 6. Pepperdine 11. UMBC -- 2. Nebraksa 7. Texas State 10. Utah Valley GOLDY REGION-- 1. Minnesota 8. Georgia Tech 9. Lipscomb -- 4. Utah 5. Pittsburgh 12. LIU -- 3. Louisville 6. San Diego 11. TAMUCC -- 2. Washington 7. Dayton 10. Towson BBN REGION-- 1. Kentucky 8. UNLV 9. Illinois State -- 4. Washington State 5. Western Kentucky 12. Jackson State -- 3. Oregon 6. Notre Dame 11. Army -- 2. Purdue 7. UCF 10. High Point The basketball tournament also treats everybody on the same seed line as equal (except for the #1 seeds). That's why they are more able to move teams around to avoid conference opponents or regular season rematches.

Minnesota isn't the winner of that regional, Washington is. Even as a Husky fan, I'm not confident in predicting that. But I hope you are right.

In 2019 the Big 12 hosted two of the regionals, definitely no B1G advantage there.
Stanford was the best team for the last four seasons. They graduated a great senior class and the title of best team was taken from them this season on the court.

Only one time west of Nebraska. One time in Florida. One time in Texas.
Three times in Missouri. Three times in Nebraska. Twice in Kentucky. Twice in Ohio.

This forced Illinois, which was No. 3 in the NET, to play a game in the second round that shouldn't have happened until at least the Sweet 16 if not Elite 8.

I wonder if some of that is that the NCAA fears poor attendance for the finals.

Look, other than the complete debacle with Penn State, the unfortunate UCLA/BYU pairing, putting all 5 PAc-12 teams on the same side of the bracket, the matchups, generally, are ok with me. I think it's a bit of a win for volleyball that we only have to endure one of Nebraska/Texas/Penn State in the final four. Seems much more likely we are going to get a new *champion* this year.

You of all people understand the difference between best team and best conference. That's all.

I’d argue the NCAA sees the crowds in the Midwest compared to the west coast, which is direct representation of the $ that the event will bring in..
