Any idea when single match tickets may go on sale? Wanting to make my usual trip to see them take on Nebraska (and get me some Black Dog)!

I can remember back when Jordyn arrived in Champaign to begin her freshman season at Illinois. Then coach Kevin Hambly remarked that Jordyn had aspirations to some day play for the U.S. National Women's Volleyball Team. I am certain that other young volleyball players have those same aspirations but so few ever achieve them. Jordyn Poulter did. In fact, she far exceeded just becoming a member of the U.S. National Team. She is now the first setter in history to set the U.S. National Women's team to a gold medal at the Olympic games. /photo/1

With the national team experience of Chris and Jen Tamas, Illinois can become a pathway to those who want to share that Olympic experience someday. I see that potential already for Raina Terry, if she wants it as much and works as hard as Jordyn did. The Road to the Olympics has an on-ramp at Champaign.

I agree with the coaching of Chris and his staff including his wife, Jen (who won a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics) Illinois has what it takes to help collegiate volleyball players reach their potential.

I have never seen a bigger smile.

In the interview Tamas mentioned Ellie continues to work on rehab, the implication being she will not be ready for this season. He did not mention any other injuries, and it sounded as though everyone else participated in practice. Someone in this thread wondered whether Bruna is injured. Is there any basis? After last year, having a healthy team would be a relief.

I recently talked with someone close to the program. They don’t expect Holzman to play this year. They have given her examples of a couple of top players over the years who had two ACL’s and still had great careers.

Can’t imagine it, but Ellie could end up being a 7th year senior. Is there a record for the number of masters degrees accumulated while on an athletic scholarship?
