After complaining about the production of the B1G+ broadcast I want to balance it with observing how good the play by play announcer performed. He was prepared, descriptive and interesting. The commentator not so much. The play by play guy was light years ahead of the announcers in prior years. Hope he does more of their games. I recently heard him call a game by himself without an analyst and he didn't miss a step. I was wishing Beth Prince was still around to do analysis last night. Thought she did a nice job last year on the call. |

Collins numbers the last two matches might get her a BIG 10 offensive player of the week!! Cooney had better numbers. She has a better shot, should be a POW candidate. |

So NU match - Ellie, Bruna, Maddie & Sophie all not dressed. Do we know what might be wrong with Maddie & Soohie. They were injured last spring. Maddie played recently, did she re-injure herself. What about Gregus, she would be our back up OH. If someone get hurt we are in big trouble.

Really appreciate the Spike Squad's enthusiasm and energy at Huff Hall! Glad to see so many of them back after the lost 2020 season. Been waiting for them to bring back the John Denver serenade serve psych-out, though!

Speaking of broadcasters, though, Illini fans got to listen to one of the best in Dave Loane. He did a great job on the conference matches of the week back in the day as well. I hope he is doing well in retirement!

I hope he is doing well in retirement! It's difficult to tell with masks on but I think I recognize him in the stands as a regular at Illini home games, now. |

Been waiting for them to bring back the John Denver serenade serve psych-out, though! I have never attended a match at Penn State's Rec Hall. I have watched matches televised from there. I never felt the environment at Rec Hall was particularly awesome...it was always about the awesomeness of the PSU team on the floor! |

I've been to matches at the others and get it. Holloway is like a glorified HS gym. It was loud.
Admittedly Huff is the only place I've attended a match in within the B1G, so I am partial. However, from seeing on TV, Holloway definitely seems like a high school Gym. They definitely pack the place, but I have to wonder if Purdue could do better with their facility. As for this list, I am shocked that Minnesota did not place. The facility seems great in terms of recent updates, capacity, and overall experience. I am ultimately shocked that Devaney did not place #1. A place that sells out constantly with 7,500 knowledgeable fans has to create an environment that would make any other school in the conference envious. |
