I-N-I - Huge win in 5 for the ILLINI. Always a battle with Purdue. Let's hope we don't get have a big let down versus WISCONSIN on Sunday. Kuper with a match-clinching ACE! Some clutch play by the Illini. Cooney found another level. Raina got amped up and elevated her play, too. Diana set us to a huge W- consistently good connections tonight and it was a track meet for her at times.

I-N-I. I have to confess, even up 13-10 I kept waiting for something bad to happen, but they showed up when it counted. I know I sound like a broken record, but we need to diversify our offense. I know Brown can set the back row as she was successful in connecting with Quade two years ago and I'm sure she has not regressed. We have two 6'4" bangers in the back row and we don't use them. I just don't get it. Still, savor this big win and more of the same against Wisconsin.

I like mad Raina not timid Raina. Kuper needs to work on her bump sets on 2nd contact. Nunge needs her sets a little off and a little inside so she can rip that inside cross court shot. Overall, we run so hot & cold. I'm impressed with the development of both Collins & Swanson. I watched our first contact really closely and it seems like they are not moving their feet as much on serve receive as they did last year.

Haha, Raina got pretty animated when they didn't give her a touch she wanted. She had some clutch serving, especially late in the match.

I will also say, Ellie looks good! She is moving around really well for someone who had a complete ACL reconstruction. Her fitness is on point too. Doesn't look she had any atrophy on the quad of the surgery leg.

Is there anyplace to access statistics that show each players’ total number of serves? Terry and Nunge have both gone off on extended serving runs which don’t include aces. Assuming a high percentage of those points are the product of getting the opponent out of system, it might help recognize a significant contribution which gives some justification to the service errors that drive so many crazy.

Terry served 26 balls and won 54% (14 points) on her serve. Purdue only had a 36% good pass rate against her serve. Cooney served 19 times holding Purdue to a 28.6% good pass rate. She didn't have any aces and had 5 errors but her win rate of 47% (9 points) was the second best on the team.

Tough loss today. I thought we had a chance in set 3 but we couldnt close out. I hope we can clean up a few things next week. I think we might get some votes in the AVCA poll. At least over Michigan.

Illinois played as well as they have all season in set 1 against the Badgers. Clearly Coach Tamas had his players primed for the match. There was just too much talent, height, and power on the red side of the net. Wisky's second string could probably finish in the top half of the B1G.
