Just saw a tweet from AD Whitman. He made the trip to Lexington and was in the house to see the team win. Love the support he gives to the program.

As a dedicated B1G fan my congrats on an inspired performance.
Nothing feels better than when things come together at tournament time.
Am rooting for you to school NEB in team cohesion & execution next week.

Earlier this year I suggested Raina might be moved to the right side next year. Put that suggestion in the trash can.

That Raina vs Kentucky is the best she's probably ever played. We've all seen the potential it's just she needs to be more consistent. Also Diana was terrific yesterday too! The serving was great both games as well. Serving tough and only averaging about 1 service error a game I believe.

If she is hitting like that all season leave her there. But if she can hit like that from the OPP & back row, and Ellie can make up the difference on the OH, still might be a good idea!

Just saw a tweet from AD Whitman. He made the trip to Lexington and was in the house to see the team win. Love the support he gives to the program. After the match AD Josh Whitman was waiting at the end of the court opposite the Illini bench. The players and coaches would have to pass him to get to the locker room. It was very special as an Illini fan to watch Whitman give big hugs to the players as they passed by him. I was especially gratified to see Whitman give Tamas a huge congratulatory hug...two young greats IMHO, and both at Illinois. I hope these two men make a lot of history at The University of Illinois!

I hope this big win shuts up some of the naysayers of Coach Tamas that were starting to pop up. This win makes up a top 15 program this year. Id rather have ups and downs during the season and come up with big wins in the tourney! This was an impressive win for us. Hopefully, we will get a bump in recruiting from this. A win over Nebraska would be icing on the cake. What a regional - TEXAS, WASHINGTON, NEBRASKA & ILLINOIS.

For Illinois fans, if you are traveling here I think you will enjoy the Gregory Gym atmosphere. And if you have any questions about Austin I'd be happy to try to answer, just send a message. Good luck!

I am so happy I decided to make the road trip to Lexington to watch Illinois perform about as well as possible against the defending national champions. Of all the years I have been watching Illinois volleyball, this year's team provided me with the singular highlight of being physically present to watch Illinois surprise (stun?) the volleyball world and particularly the favored home team. I want to give UK and Lexington props for being very welcoming and friendly to an orange-clad visitor with "ILLINOIS" emblazoned across his shirt and hat. The parking attendant monitoring the event lot at Memorial Coliseum greeted me in my car by telling me he was a U of I alum. I also got a couple of I-L-L' s as I walked around campus. The elderly gentleman and his wife who sat in front of me initiated conversations with me both sessions. There was one obnoxious Kentucky fan seated behind me that would not shut up. He actually made me feel ashamed and regret the many Illinois games over the years where I have behaved the exact same way. Hopefully, lesson learned. Good facility UK has to play in. Somewhat like Huff but much more cavernous. I particularly liked the huge (gigantic) video screen that took up the whole wall on one end of the court. And, whereas, Huff's sound system needs replacing (I think), the sound system in MC is "too loud". The pre-recorded NCAA message played before every match, I thought was lacking. I would like to see more history of women's collegiate athletics and of women's volleyball (not just photos flashed of past matches). Also, considering the honoring that Illinois did for former UI volleyball player, Tracey Marshall, who unexpectedly passed away this year, I was also thinking honoring black female athletes might also be appropriate. For Illini fans here are some articles I found on women in Illini sports. www.news-gazette.com/sports/illini-sports/she-got-game/article_ce238056-69eb-5b92-a8d6-fee08426d29b.htmlfightingillini.com/news/2021/11/15/volleyball-tracey-marshall-honored-by-former-team-illini-community.aspxwww.avca.org/res/uploads/media/DDTHistCommPhase1Vol1.01THiteDavid_1.pdf

Watching it right now! I think Lee said he's got a piece coming about Illinois in VolleyballMag, too!
