Ballard-Nixon is coming back for the fall. She's not a bad player just because she had a bad match against the best team in the country. I'm still more interested in developing another outside. I just don't and never have seen enough killer instinct from her.. She is not terminal enough for OH 1. I am ready to let some of our top recruits have a crack at it. Well, Stowell is coming in this year's recruiting class. Having depth isn't a bad thing. I'm sure Olmstead will figure out what to do. For whatever flaws Ballard-Nixon has, she was still a million times better than Madi Robinson was in 2019. BYU still had a good season, and Ballard-Nixon was a key part of it. I don't know. I would prefer to focus on the positives rather than get that upset that the team was unsurprisingly not good enough to beat Wisconsin.

I know i might be being a little harsh on her. Of course she wasn't going to have a great game against wisconsin, but the utter lack of fight was the concerning part to me. And yes she had a good season, she can be elite against lesser opponents. To get us over the hump, i want to see if anyone can beat her out.

Sheff in presser
Rettke didn't have great offensive numbers, but they hit 0.000 with her in the match. Was one of the best matches he's seen Haggerty have. She shows up in the biggest moments. Serving was great, executed game plan perfectly. Holding Ballard-Nixon so low was incredible. Got stronger as the match went on. Devyn set the tone. Sydney did really well running the offense. Serve set the tone.
Sydney: Balance is a big thing for the team. Molly Grace and Devyn made up for Dana's off night. Molly is a big moment player. This builds confidence. Was one of the most fun games they played all year.
Molly: Syd was setting a faster offense which she likes.

She didn't bend down to pass. She was lazy in her footwork. All the little things that message real effort for the game and a desire to win were missing. She mentally checked out in the 2nd set.

When Wisconsin gets dialed in, they're a level above anyone. Anyone includes BYU, as demonstrated tonight.
Robinson is going to be an absolute beast for the next 3 (or 4?) years.

I said that Wisconsin was playing its C game in the 2nd set when Wisconsin hit .205
Wisconsin set 3 started to look like Wisconsin: 18-0-37 swings = .486

So now the Badgers will read their press clippings, and become complacent; overlooking their next opponent, while looking ahead to the Final Four?

I don't think I ever suggested that she should be guaranteed to be the OH1 next year. There is a lot of talent on the team and coming in. BYU is way ahead of schedule. Before the season started, I was pretty doubtful that they'd even make the tournament, let alone the Sweet 16. After the UCLA win, I said that I viewed this season as an unmitigated success even if they got blown out by Wisconsin. I still feel that way.

If Gneiting can get herself in volleyball shape, I’d like to see Dodson on the outside. Eh, they tried that at the beginning of the season. Dodson was okay over there, but she's better in the middle. Plus, Stowell is coming in the fall. I think dodson needs to be on the floor in some capacity though. She is a good player.

Gary White:
BYU is really well coached and a strong blocking team. Really happy with how they dealt with it. Hilley is great at recognizing what teams are doing and taking what is given as the match goes on. Molly was great at mixing shots and putting defenders on their heels. Short turnaround that they now use to their advantage. OSU reminds him of the 2013 badger team. Florida big and athletic.
Barnes had 7 assists!

This. she can be good but she is timid and doesn't have that killer instinct. She is a really nice person though and obviously is much better than she showed in this match.

It should be a fight in the gym next season. Have anyone seen any of our recruits play. I live in arizona and so have seen alyssa montoya. But that is about it.
