Nootsara is a blocking liability, and Cansu has years of experience at VB. I don't think it's a controversial choice.
OK, I forgot Naz. Naz instead of Cansu then.
KYK is 33. OK, she had 2nd highest attack efficiency at the world cup, but still I prefer Karakurt. Natalia isn't healthy and Koshe can't receive. At least karakurt can do a little receiving.
that being said, you know if China, Italy, and Serbia's A teams were here, none of these players (with all due respect, these are great players lol) would be anywhere near the dream team.
wait karakurt can pass ? she's better than Mihajlovic...she's not horrible at it but her future is at OPP imo. Personally, I would still take KYK especially since she wouldn't have to take like 40 swings per set since you could set the middles/Goncharova more with the ball control on this team but I get why others wouldn't.

wait karakurt can pass ? a small area of the court, apparently. In my team she'd be receiving with KRob and Castillo, which is probably easier than in her Turkish team.

Startseva said that the goal for Russia is to make the podium at this VNL. They have the pieces (Startseva, Goncharova, Voronkova, Kosheleva, Koroleva, Fetisova, just missing Malova at libero), but it would be a risk to play with them majority of the tournament and burn out right before the Olympics. Japan is pretty much the same, but they are still adjusting to these setters after losing Sato and leaving Miyash!ta behind. Nagaoka returned and I saw some confidence in the practice match against China, but whether she can keep it up against tough competition in back to back matches is something we have to wait and see. i may add the Sokolova's presence in the staff and collaborating with the team (is it an important factor? maybe) i enjoyed how Japan quickly brought some key players from U20 WCH and 2019 Asian Champ's titles to the main team like Ishikawa (MVP), Yamada, Momii and Hayasu. That's because they have nobody in their pipeline and were forced to do this

I was wondering what she was doing training with Russia at the venue. Didn't realize she joined the coaching crew.

Heck even Japan's second libero Kotoe Inoue who plays behind Kobata could be starting for a lot of NT here. USA would love to have her.

Poulter KYK Krob Zehra Foluke Smarzek Simge I would hesitate to pick Foluke over Eda just because I haven't seen how she looks at the international level yet...but other than this I agree. If Smarzek is in a better place than she was with Novara/has Poulter setting her, she's a killer. I forgot about Simge too ngl.

Ebrar will get moved to OH when Vargas is eligible.
I'm pretty sure she was at OH when Vakif almost beat Imoco at the Club WCH

So, Vargas in OPP and Karakurt on OH imo. if the other OH can pass consistently.

no. im anti smarzek+hancock smarzek with poland is a whole different player hm is she solidly better than Tandara and Gonch? yes. Gonch was terrible in the champions league this year. I'm interested to see if she can show up for the VNL. She wouldn't be in my top 5 going into the competition

She wouldn't be in my top 5 going into the competition this is why she wasn't on my list. I watched a match of hers and remembered thinking that she couldn't put the ball away as often as before. maybe she steps it up with the national team especially with Kosheleva back to take some of the load off.
