I am curious now, how do Serbia and Poland know so much and we don't? USAV knows about the protocols they’re just not telling us lol. I think they left it at “it’s a bubble”. Well, we could have guessed that it's a bubble since December 2019....

and how many pro teams dealt with covid issues? (I'll answer: a whole lot) After being vaccinated? They weren't vaccinated in the pro season and a majority of the VNL participants won't be either. USA should be 100% (I have doubts about MBH and Hill). They're going to try to control everything they can to minimize risk and nothing is truly outlandish.
Brazil isn't 100% vaccinated. Italy isn't either. Those are the only ones I know for sure. I would venture to guess the non-olympic teams don't have access yet. I'm not sure about China/Japan/Korea.

China, Russia, and Serbia definitely have the choice to be vaccinated if they want to. It's already available to all of the general public in these countries. Of these I know the entire China team is vaccinated for sure (before they went to Japan on May 1). Brazil I think got their athletes vaccinated too.
I think I saw some news that Korea got vaccinated. Not sure about Japan, in an interview Koga said that she'd get the vaccine if necessary for the Olympics, so I would guess no at this point.
Not sure about the other countries like Germany or DR.

Brazil got their first shot. I forgot about the DR. They got theirs too (or at least some of them did. This was back in March)
I have doubts about Germany and the smaller Euro countries. The IOC has been working with each country's OC to get vaccines (Brazil got theirs through the IOC/Brazil's OC). I dont know how much general access Germany or like the Netherlands would have.

vaccine isn't magic that makes the covid go away anyways (that would be bleach lol)
It needs ~1 month after 2nd dose for the human body to adjust to "full immunity levels" and even that isn't a guarantee against infection, only a very large probability of not needing to go to the ICU.
Didn't thailand get vaccinated (or were in the middle of vaccination) when their entire training team got covid?

In general, if this bubble gets us at least 18+ matches of volleyball for each team, I’m for it. If the FIVB does it right, it should work. Besides there are MUCH worse places to be in a bubble than Rimini, Italy:)

i know nothing about thailand other than it was a hot mess.
Their replacement team is all in isolation now and doing "virtual trainings" before they leave for Italy.... now that's ridiculous. maybe FIVB won't refund their 250k. lol

I think it's because it's too late to get a replacement team. I mean China's men team had a ridiculous reason and they weren't penalized.

A makeshift Thailand might be worse than no Thailand.

I agree 100%, especially given the Thai federation didn't want to continue.

It doesn't matter where you are if you can't leave your hotel room.

I heard that for some, they are concerned about possible issues with the vaccine (and future child bearing). Right or wrong, it’s something I’ve heard. As new information continues to come out, more might feel safe get vaccinated.

Plus what the FIVB says and what the FIVB enforces are likely two different things based on what how organized they are...for example I'd be very surprised if that "mask swap every four hours" wasn't based on an honor system or something.

Canada is already practicing the bubble protocol in Italy (they aren’t in Rimini yet, but close). They have a more senior player paired with a newer player (of different positions) and they can go out to the beach or ride bikes outside, etc. with their roommate. They sit at the same table for meals with roommate etc.
They are obviously together for weights and practice, but masked up. It seems to be going okay….not really that hard to follow.
