I don’t have any access to stats, but it seemed to me that Petersen was passing worse in the tournament (at least until last night). I also think she is the weakest passer out of the two of them although Iosia didn’t have too great a game last night. For the four matches leading up to the finals: Petersen 1.99/45.1% (51 receptions). Iosia 1.98/36.2% (47 receptions) Interesting. I wouldn’t have guessed that. Guess that’s why the eye test is not to be trusted😂 Honestly, neither of those are great though. What were Eggleston’s and O’Brien’s?

Until that match, Petersen had the much better tournament and the recency probably impacted your perceptions.

I said retire, not fired 🤦 [br Wise’s colleagues have retired: Dunning, Shoji, Haley (technically). Rose needs to retire as well. Oh brother, what a ridiculous viewpoint. The are still winning more than most of the younger coach combined.

Give the younger ones a chance. Why should they? They have worked their ass off to earn that spot, as long as they’re having success, that should be their choice.

We can talk setting, passing, defense, etc; but there is not way Kentucky could have won that match without strong outside hitters that hit the ball high, hard and smart. I hadn't been following them at all this season. So impressed with their outside hitters!

Haven’t read any of this thread and couldn’t watch the match live. Just watched and wow that’s one of the highest levels of volleyball that has been played in collegiate history. Neither team winning that match would’ve been a surprise to me. One of my favorite nc matches ever.
Eggleston is an stud and I think has a big future with USA volleyball if she wants it. She might be the heavy arm they’re missing. I’d like to see lilley get a good look in that gym as well. Imagine them playing together....

How would this Kentucky team stack up to past ncaa champions? I’d say pretty well. No weaknesses and Lilley ran one of the best offenses I’ve ever seen at the college level. I so wish we had one more year of her. Ugh

Honesty it probably did. Iosia balled out against Wisconsin so I probably subconsciously attributed that performance to her whole tournament performance.

Both are ELITE (like really elite) at ball control and have lots of good weapons by great setters.

Honestly serving Petersen is probably the best game plan. She’s the weakest of the 3 IMO Going into the finals, Petersen had a very slight edge over Iosia in the stats over the course of the season. The biggest mistake of the match was Iosias over head pass on serve receive that went right thru her hands.. that was an extremely costly error!!!
