Hi Washington fans, touch match last night. I was wondering -- if anyone bought all-session tickets and won't be using their tickets for Saturday night, I'd love to know and would be happy to buy them from you! Just send a DM please, thanks!

said so in another thread but that set 4 blowout was foreshadowed in the match against WSU at home with the 13-1 hole in the second set. Hope Cook & co really reviews those 2 sets from those 2 different matches. Was really excited at the end of set 2; really believed the Huskies were going to pull it off. Can't wait to see what adjustments are made for next season. We really got to be able to dig balls. That WSU set; the way they played at home against UCLA; and now this Texas "glitch". Really would like to see someone figure out why this team had those sudden spurts of disastrous play. I had chalked up Montana State and the opening matches of conference play to the line-up not being settled and Bays not comfortable yet at libero. But when tested by a team as good as Texas, the flaw got exposed again.

The most glaring common factor I can see is they start out with Ella serving and with Sanders, Dreschel, and Bush in front. If Ella doesn't go on a serving run, it gets them stuck in several poor offensive rotations where it's hard to side out. I understand the rotation might be unavoidable (EMP is our best server, better match ups against the other teams etc), but that seems to give them fits. Hoping Summers can be an offensive spark and Bush improves. It's going to be so hard to replace Sam.

I have a feeling, barring any incoming transfers, Wilmes will eventually be rotated with Bush and Crenshaw will take Drechsel's rotations. Bush doesn't strike me as having the potential for receiving like Drechsel does..

It just baffles me that having 3 hitting options in the front row and with Hoffman as a back row attacking option that was the weakest rotation all year or at least in important matches/times.

But all those options are the "in-system" options. While Washington was a great out of system team, that was because they had Hoffman and (for a rotation) Drechsel to go to in the left side when they needed it. The rotations where it was Bush/Crenshaw/Endsley were (sometimes) trouble. But you know, WSU (with Timmer) was a very good team. Texas was a very good team. Sometimes very good teams lose to other very good teams. Last year Washington knocked some very good teams out (teams that are still playing this year). This year they got knocked out. It happens. But it hurts that they were four points away from a sweep over Texas at Texas.

That's true and Keegan being the king of challenges I'm surprised he didn't use it even to try or as a time out at 15-10. But there is always next year.

I’m guessing he thought they were up and didn’t want to end up with no challenges at critical moments like last year’s final four with kentucky

It’s fine losing to a good team but getting stuck in a giant hole at the beginning of a set might warrant an extra look at how to close those gaps. Especially when those two sets have some glaring similarities (at least to my noob eyes). Hoping Bush takes more notes from Hoffman on how to score OOS.

I think Texas and Purdue may be the two teams in the country this year with the best chance to make good teams look really bad for stretches, due to the combination of aggressive serving, a massive block, and a lot of firepower offensively (not just saying that because Purdue did it to Wisconsin-the Badgers have 2 of those 3 things, but not a great block).

Congrats Sam! I say she’s at least a 2nd team AA this year.
