Right. I would have preferred other schools, but I get Nebraska. It's not necessarily about being a great or good football program (though that would be a plus), but about the media market and the fact that NE gets viewers. It's the only big-time college team in the state, plus there's no pro team. People watch even when they're not great (though an extended period of being not great may negatively effect that a little). My understanding is that the B1G would not have invited non-AAU Nebraska. It's a big deal to the conference whether anyone agrees with it or not. But, there's not much you can do when a brand new member gets booted because of a reconsideration of whether to include the med school (not located in Lincoln) and its research dollars, and maybe some other things relating to how the AAU determines if schools are eligible. Great post. Right so .... Nebraska's media market is .... Nebraska. Even if you count every person in the state, it's still a pretty lame market. I've seen people argue that it got BTN on the main channel tiers of most pay TV systems in KC and Denver, due to Husker alumni presence there. Would like to see the true data on that, but that would be something, at least. With how far the Husker program has fallen since the mid to late 90's, I disagree 100% that they're a "national" team that casual viewers around the country care about, any more. Granted, the decision was being made in the 2010/2011 timeframe. And Pelini had them in the Big XII champ game in both 09 and 10. So, it would have been difficult to predict just how far they'd fall after firing Pelini. There are plenty of major public research universities that have med school/medical research conducted off the main campus, yet those research dollars and operations are consolidated under and count for the main campus. Why Nebraska refuses to do this .... who knows. Cost them AAU and continues to do so. UNMC is a fantastic medical research institution.

Let’s appease one of Wisconsin’s backup setters with a 6-2 just because I live for chaos.

Hammill and Ashburn right now Certainly not ideal for them. Especially Hammill. Not that you would ever say no to Hilley coming back if you are Sheffield.

In 2022, I want to see a front row with Smrek, Wohlert, and 6’8 Martha Anthouli. Would it be a disaster with everyone playing out of position? Yes. Do I care? No.

OP is all tidy now with the Hilley news. The other recent addition is Indiana backup OH Kamryn Malloy transferring to Wake Forest, per the D1 Transfers thread. Also, I hate to be the copy editing nerd, but I’m going to do it anyway. Malloy’s Indiana bio page has a very unfortunate incorrect word in it. I mean, it’s extremely unfortunate. It’s one of those things where two similar words have two VERY different meanings. I’ll let people find it and process it on their own terms. Rant over.
