I’m honestly cracking up at these B1G teams dropping sets to schools from ‘lesser’ conferences.

Just woke up from a horrible nap nightmare that everyone was beating up on the BigTen.

So what was the total damage at the end of the day? Michigan losing to Ball St 2-3?
Is that really worse than Oregon getting swept by Kansas?
Every other Big Ten team swept in the first round, except Illinois won 3-1 over West Virginia.
Then Purdue "only" beat Dayton, who had just beaten Marquette, 3-2 in the West Laf. sub-region final. Was a "reverse sweep" or whatever the term is.
Institutionally and men's basketball wise certainly, Dayton is a Big East institution. Don't know about volleyball program generally, but this year would seem to belong as well.
I think the Big Ten is just fine.

They dropped a set to Towson and I’d hope the rest of the big ten swept their opening round matches against those aqs…..

Every other Big Ten team swept in the first round, except Illinois won 3-1 over West Virginia. Not that it really matters, but Towson won a set off Penn State too. The big tests are today. The B1G needs a couple upsets to get 7 teams into the Sweet 16. It's possible. 4 is possible too, with both unseeded falling + 1 of Minnesota/Ohio State falling. I would be stunned if only 3 make it into the Sweet 16. There could be a chance that all 5 of the P5 conferences get 3 teams into the Sweet 16. And the P6 gets 1 I'd say these are in most likely to win to least likely: Wisconsin/FGCU Nebraska/Florida State Ohio State/Tennessee Minnesota/Stanford Penn State/Pittsburgh Illinois/Kentucky

A lot of these match ups are going to be pretty interesting. I think Kentucky takes out Illinois. I’m interested how Minnesota does against Stanford without CC. I never underestimate Nebraska imploding. Pitt and penn state is the one most are watching for a B1G upset. I’m excited

So, what was the damage at the end of last night?
- Ohio St 3-1 over an SEC team (expected, of course) - the aforementioned Purdue over Dayton (Big East-esque) result - #3 Pitt 3-1 over Penn State (thank you for the corrections about dropping a set to Towson), that's fine - Minnesota sweeps Stanford - Wisc sweeps Florida Gulf Coast - Nebraska sweeps Florida State - Illinois 3-1 over some little SEC team that only won a title in a make-up covid season that should've just been cancelled in the first place
I'll take it! Pretty objectively the best conf in volleyball.
Also gotta love SEC fans trying to claim Texas when they aren't joining until the 2025-26 sports year. 😂
Texas will be another great result for the Big XII this year. All of their results up until the switch belong to the Big XII and shall not be allowed to transfer over.

Congrats on the dominating win.

Based only on gut and their inability to finish at the close of sets I’ve felt Illini’s games against Wisc, Minnesota and Nebraska have been marked by a lack of confidence. Hopefully Ky makes them understand their capabilities.

All streaks end at some point, but this one lives on despite my so clearly wrong predictions. The fighting Illini will get the job done in Austin. Third time Lucky!
