You’re again missing the point. Of course merit should be the number one priority, but If you are a program that does not have black athletes, you’re going to have a very difficult to impossible time signing a black athlete who can make you better and that’s a significant negative. Any time your pool of athletes to draw from is smaller that is a big negative . Speak to ANY collegiate coach and ask them if it’s a disadvantage. Why does a program need to have a bunch of black athletes to attract more. If a person really likes a program and they’re no other African Americans there so they choose not to go that’s on them not the program. Uffffff is there an award for cringe post of the month?

That’s on them. Color should not matter. Wow. Just wow. You continuing to bring up color separates people into boxes and I can’t believe you can’t see that.

It’s not a programs job to bring in a bunch of African American players to attract top athletes. Cause there’s never a guarentee these players choose there anyway. Their job is to put together the best team they can moment to moment. You recruit based on merit not color. It’s not our job to dictate to every program in the country how to do their jobs. People across the country and world have different morals and value systems. As I mentioned before. African Americans make up around 15 percent of the population. So it’s unrealistic to expect them to be in every group and every program. Statistically that makes no sense But it seems now if you don’t have one in every company and program then they are racist which is ridiculous

You don’t buy that a top prospect who is black would be far more reluctant to choose a school that didn’t have black players? Really? If a program has no Black athletes, but it wants to have them, what is the best thing it can do? Hire Black coaches? Try to recruit a group of Black players at once?

Briefly interrupting whatever this is
Late 2021 setter add for Maryland. Dropping it into OP in a sec.
Carry on.
EDIT: And there’s another one.

Y'all just looking for a reason to get this great thread shut down, huh? Why is it so hard to just ignore the posters who are here to stir the pot?

With addition of Alford and 2021 setter that is 3 on the roster. Alford transferred to Mizzou. Dowler would be the next in line to start unless she joins the exodus.

Seems many threads want to continually bring up diversity and race when they should just be about volleyball. Then people want to argue with me when I respond. I very rarely start these. I just respond cause I’m gonna when a statement is made. If mods would just keep this to volleyball and if people want to go off thread to talk about diversity and race that’s fine but keep vb thread about volleyball and stop incorporating race and diversity into any program a individual has a problem with.

Zoe Huang is listed at 5’3 on her club site. Take that for what it’s worth, and it’s definitely worth something.

New roster alert: Here you go. There's nothing out of order here, with the only change being the removal of Boyer. The freshmen haven't been added.

Started when Maryland made the men’s Basketball Final Four in 2001 and won the title in 2002. Still gets a little bit of play in the greater CP metroplex

Why would it be celebrated? Are you suggesting diversity isn’t positive? As I stated clearly earlier in this thread, diversity has no inherent strengths or weaknesses. Years ago when I was in the MBA program at Penn State, I ran across numerous academic studies of business organizations produced in the 80s and 90s, mostly from Europe but a few from the U.S., that concluded that diversity is a neutral or in some cases a net negative. Of course, any academic who produced a study with such conclusions now would have to find another career. The death of academic freedom and objectivity is another matter, though. I'm not sure what your reasons are for believing that diversity is vital to success. Maybe you've had it pounded into you by the public education system, whose mantra is, "Diversity is our greatest strength." Maybe you believe others will see you as virtuous because you promote diversity. I really don't know and don't care very much.
